God's Word for Today

abounding in love

After my prayer time this morning I went in search of some comfort and Godly wisdom. I was burdened by some of my life's unpleasant issues. Ya know the unexpected things that happen and you wonder why can’t things just go the way I want them to go and be done with it. Why does the world have to be so assertive? Why do I yield to my weakness and then kick myself for not saying or doing what I really wanted to say or do?

Suffice it to say I will continue to place the situation before the Lord for He knows better than me how to handle it.

What I also realized is that in the grand scheme of things my tiny little problem is truly minor by comparison to those that are dealing with real life and death issues.

When I read Psalm 103 this morning I received comfort when the truth of His word washed over me.

God is compassionate and gracious.

God know my flaws and my weakness.

God does not treat me as my sins deserve.

His love for me is great.

I read a few blogs this morning that also gave me a glimpse into the lives of others. Isn’t that the amazing thing about blogging! I may never have a face to face with some of my blogging pals but their words, their wisdom, their experiences impact me and give me great insights. Sometime I fall into the deep well of myself and get absorbed in my own own stuff. Not that my own stuff is not important but it does help to put things in proper perspective when I read about the strength of one who is facing a new diagnosis of breast cancer or you see how God is working in the life of someone else. It does help to focus the lens of reality and make it a bit clearer.

God is the God is infinite wisdom. That wisdom can meet my need as well as the needs of all of His children.

Psalm 103

1 Praise the LORD, O my soul;
   all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
2 Praise the LORD, O my soul,
   and forget not all his benefits—
3 who forgives all your sins
   and heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit
   and crowns you with love and compassion,
5 who satisfies your desires with good things
   so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

6 The LORD works righteousness
   and justice for all the oppressed.

7 He made known his ways to Moses,
   his deeds to the people of Israel:
8 The LORD is compassionate and gracious,
   slow to anger, abounding in love.
9 He will not always accuse,
   nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve
   or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
   so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
   so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
13 As a father has compassion on his children,
   so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;
14 for he knows how we are formed,
   he remembers that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are like grass,
   he flourishes like a flower of the field;
16 the wind blows over it and it is gone,
   and its place remembers it no more.
17 But from everlasting to everlasting
   the LORD’s love is with those who fear him,
   and his righteousness with their children’s children—
18 with those who keep his covenant
   and remember to obey his precepts.

19 The LORD has established his throne in heaven,
   and his kingdom rules over all.

20 Praise the LORD, you his angels,
   you mighty ones who do his bidding,
   who obey his word.
21 Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts,
   you his servants who do his will.
22 Praise the LORD, all his works
   everywhere in his dominion.

   Praise the LORD, O my soul.

Blessings Y’all

Oh, I so sympathize!!! What a beautiful Psalm, too.

What's amazing, you know, is that if we never meet in this world, we will meet in Heaven, someday. "Forever Friends"-- that's what I call my friends, virtual or not, who are also followers of Christ, because we truly will be friends forever. <3

Great post. God is with us in the valley the same as on the mountain. Isn't it great we're never alone.
