Letting go….

For some time now I have been avoiding something. It was not a huge life altering decision, it was more a nagging you need to do this only you just to chicken to do it kind of thing. It is so odd how God works out certain things and God being God and all His timing is always perfect. There are times when you have to wonder why certain things work out and other things do not. Mine is not to question why, mine is only to try to be obedient to what God is leading me to, or more to the point leading me away from. I finally stepped away from an area of ministry today that I should have stepped away from several years ago. My failure to heed my inner prompting in favor of what other people wanted me to do spoke louder than my desire to be obedient to what God had been telling me to do. Today I finally had the courage to actually say the words out loud, as well as have those words be well received. Isn't that the rub. We hesitate to do what we know we need to do because of fear that we...

Perspective

Yesterday was a very busy day. My morning stated at 6:15 when the alarm went off. I lazed a few minutes in bed but did not linger due to the very busy day I had ahead of me. I had spent the past two week getting ready for the orientation of my bible study that is about to start next week. Arriving at the church a full 30 minutes early in order to give myself PLENTY of time to get my room ready AND have a bit of quiet time before the rest of the member arrived was my hope. However I was looking forward to a few moments of quiet to focus my thoughts when just after I walked in the door to my classroom one of the members shows up and there went my plan. So much for my focus. Seeing as it was orientation our business was conclude rather quickly and thankfully I was able to move on the the next item on my list. Taking the dog to the vet. Several months ago he had an unfortunat...

There’s something about Worship.

There are times when it is easy to be witty and share about a lost coffee scoop , then there are moment when life is so real and so clear and God’s plan for how things are supposed to work is so very apparent . Even when things don’t seem to go the way I think they should God has an amazing way in showing me that even in sadness and heartbreak there is great hope. I think Sunday mornings are my favorite day of the week. The expectation of coming together in the house of the Lord, the anticipation of a shared experience, the deep soul thirsty feeling that gets satiated with the lifting up of hands and the bending of a knee. Having the word of God opened up and delivered in a unique way. A song that touches a tender place with in my heart. In worship this morning, as it happens quite often these days I am moved to tears as the music washes over me. Part of my emotional response is simply a filling up of how amazing my God truly is and the other part is a deep desire to see my prayers fu...
