Project 365 ~ Week 38…only three days y’all….Major Bummer!

Image
I only managed to get a picture for three out of the seven days this week. Major Bummer…….It was a busy week for me with the unexpected trip to the vet with the dog and a few other things as well. So such as it is here is my regretfully un-photographed week. No pictures on Sunday, September 11 Monday, September 12 One day they will design a camera that will accurately capture how impactful a night sky can be. Until that time it is a bit of a disappointment to try to capture. It was such a lovely evening that I took a stroll after supper. As I was coming up my street I had to run, well not run but I went to retrieve my camera to take a picture of the moon. I can promise as I was coming up the street it looked HUGE! In this pictures …NOT  so much! No pictures on Tuesday, September 13, I spent the morning putting the final preparations on my orientation meeting for That The World May Know class. Wednesday, September 14 This is one unhappy puppy. This is now the second time we ...

An internal dialogue: How to Loose an Argument with Yourself! Bunny Watch 2011: The Saga Continues

Myself: What is the dog doing? Me: Get out of my flowerbed….bad dog! Myself: You don’t care what the dog is doing just go inside and mind your own business….. Me: Oh no, Mrs. Bunny has decided to birth her second or hundredth litter of bunnies in my flowerbed. Myself: Now remember you said that if Mrs. Bunny came again you were going to let nature take it’s course…. Me: Oh No Buster is now using a newborn bunny as a chew toy! Myself: Maybe Mrs. Bunny will learn a lesson and move on to someone else's back yard! Me: Look at it’s tiny terrified little baby bunny legs flailing around in a panic. Baby Bunny: Help Me! Mommy! There is a ferocious Hound from Hell tossing me up in the air like a chew toy! Myself: Seriously, I have not even had my first cup of coffee and now I have to go chase down the dog in the back yard in hopes that he has not killed another bunny! Me: Oh no…….here we go again. Buster: Kill the Wabbit ….Kill the Wabbit…..Kill the Wabbit! Myself: Remember you...

Kill the wabbit, kill the wabbit, kill the waaaaaabbbbbbiiiiitttttt! A Quiet Saturday morning with Be Still and Know!

Image
So there I was enjoying the peace and quiet of my house on this fine Saturday morning. The Hubs and DD were still asleep! I was about to to spend a few moments savoring my first cup of coffee. I let my sweet Buster out for his morning constitutional and I sit down to check the ol facebook page and maybe do a bit of blog hopping. In a few minutes I see something out of the corner of my eye. It’s my wonderful furry child bounding around the back yard with something unfamiliar in his mouth. So there I am in my blue stripped seersucker bathrobe and my orange garden shoes that skoots1mom had given me running around my back yard trying to croaks to dog into dropping whatever it is he had decided makes a wonderful play thing. The normal enticement were of little interest, he would not be distracted, even his ever faithful tennis ball would make him drop his prize. I resorted to the one and only thing that I knew would get his attention! A very firm “Buster Crate!” This did the trick and h...

Project 365 – Week 51

Image
This week was jammed pack with activity but most of it went undocumented. No pictures on Sunday – December 12 Sunday afternoon we found ourselves at two musical events. The first was the Christmas Canteen at the Aurora Theater. It was a very good Christmas Musical Review. We walked out the door after the show to below freezing temperatures and had a spare few minutes before having to go to the church for rehearsals for the DD Christmas Choir concert. All in all I spent a total of three and a half hours listening to some form of Christmas music. I am not sure what my musical threshold is but I think I may have reached it by the end of the night. Monday – December 13 Just a bit of Christmas cheer! Here is a picture of the tree and mantle. No pictures on Tuesday – December 14 Wednesday – December 15 The DD is all ready for the “Elf” themed youth Christmas party! Thursday – December 16 Buster has such a hard life. No pictures on Friday – December 17… Saturday – December 18 ...

Random Dozen

Image
It’s that time again! Time to dive right in with all the wonderful randomness!!!!! 1. Is there a word which you initially mispronounced? Were the circumstances in which you made the faux pas embarrassing? By the way, that's not "foax pass." (I know you know that. Just jokin' with ya.) Just pick a chapter in the Old Testament, which we just happen to be wading through in Disciple I at the moment and you will quickly get over the act of mispronunciations. 5 Now Adonijah, whose mother was Haggith, put himself forward and said, "I will be king." So he got chariots and horses [ a ] ready, with fifty men to run ahead of him. 6 (His father had never interfered with him by asking, "Why do you behave as you do?" He was also very handsome and was born next after Absalom.) 7 Adonijah conferred with Joab son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar the priest, and they gave him their support. 8 But Zadok the priest, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, S...

Or Suppose…

Travel Anxiety , do y’all struggle with it? Yesterday I was in the thick of vacation planning. We have some big plans over the summer and I was making reservations, printing off confirmations, searching the internet for things to do and basically making myself nuts. Terms like “non-refundable” and “Cancelation Fee’s” were rolling before my eyes. I felt the anxiety well up with in me almost to the point of tear as I watched my list of available hotels getting smaller and smaller. I had visions of us sleeping on the side of the road in our rental car, with nothing but the contents of our back seat cooler to sustain us for the foreseeable future. The endless list of things to do are wandering in and out of my brain, get the car adapter for the laptop, make sure we have enough batteries, do I have enough sunscreen in those small 3 ounce bottle to pass the airport security? Then in the midst of finalizing one last reservation the DD walks into the kitchen and looks at me and my husb...

Thankful Thursday ~ Intruder Alert

Image
Y’all I was sitting at the ol’ desktop I miss my laptop so much catching up on some of my weekly reads when my ever faithful daytime companion, my sweet wonderful Buster went berserk! He began barking his sweet little head off and at first I thought he was at the front door, but no. I got up to investigate. He was standing in the hallway with his hackles raised literally. The hairs on his back were standing straight up and he was barking for all his 24 pounds would allow. He was hunkered down ready to pounce at the offending intruder in my bedroom. I walked a bit further into my room with a bit of hesitations to what could be upsetting him so. Maybe a small mouse or other creature had found it’s way  into our suburban abode. His barking erupts again and he is pacing back and forth with more agitation and I finally realize what all the fuss is about. Would you like to see the intruder?                  ...

A Morning Cuddle

Image
So here’s what happens. Each morning when the DD leaves for school the puppy and I have begun a morning ritual. I sit with my laptop, my coffee warm and cozy in my ratty old purple bathrobe and the puppy hops up on the sofa and curls up next to me. I’m checking my FB, emails and blog and he cuddles up real close and naps. He also from time to time looks up at me with those brown puppy eyes and exclaims “I love you and all…but could you stop whacking me in the head with your elbow as you type!” Friday Morning Monday Morning Tuesday Morning So that’s it! A little glimpse into a warm and cozy puppy interlude! Blessings Robin

Another Prayer Shawl Finished and Grounds for Euthanasia…

Image
I used Homespun for this one. I love working with this yarn. It is so very soft and given the texture and the bulkiness of this yarn it makes for quick work. I knocked this one out in about two weeks or so. I love the colors, Homespun Windsor (the blue), Homespun Pacific (the pale pink and beige variegated) and white. The colors worked so very beautifully together. Her is a close up of the colors! I had just finished off the last edge and folded up up and placed it aside to turn in on Wednesday. My sweet devil puppy decide to curl up on top of it for a small nap. How very precious I thought. Until I saw this! A HOLE! A HOLE CHEWED BY MY SWEET PRECIOUS DEVIL PUPPY! But…God is good! You see I was on my way out the door to my morning work out and had already instructed my sweet devil puppy to get into his crate BEFORE I spied the HOLE. Had he not been safely behind bars already I am not sure what would have happen! Robin

Buster 101

Sometimes it's a lizard, sometimes a small bird, sometimes I think there are small invisible fairies inhabiting our back yard, but whatever "IT" is in my backyard you can be sure it will be detected with his mighty sniffer. I will be applying for a job as a videographer at National Geographic in the very near future, in case y'all were wondering! Blessings Robin

The word for the week: Sacrifice

Yesterday I sent the hubs off on his yearly mission trip to Mexico . This would have been the DD second trip into the mission field but the recovery process has left her on the side lines for this trip. Instead of having the week to myself and reveling in my freedom and indulging my every whim (sorta) I am now spending the week tending to the needs of my 14 year old DD. On a personal note I will say that over the course of our time in the hospital and also here at home I have found myself in the position of having to help my DD with things that I have not helped her with since she was a very little girl. It has been a unique bonding situation for both of us. Feeding her apple sauce as she laid in bed at the hospital, helping her wash her hair for the first time once we got home, helping her get dressed, tying her shoes, walking beside her so she would not fall and helping her up a small flight of steps. Let me also say that the flash backs to the very early days of motherhood...

Look! Look! Look!

We have a new addition. Maybe forever, maybe only temporary. We are giving the dog ownership a try. A dear friend’s daughter had to let go of this precious little one and my DD has been promised a dog for a while so when this opportunity came along we thought we would give it a try. He is 6 month old and from what my friend tells me he is a dachshund beagle mix. He had a restless night last night I am sure due to the unfamiliar surroundings, but after he tuckered himself out exploring his new surroundings he finely settled down around 1:30 am. He is house trained and goes to the door when he wants to go outside. We did have a few little accidents last night, due to the unfamiliar surroundings. He is in desperate need of bath as he is a bit aromatic but that will be taken care of in short order later this morning. We will have to have him neutered soon, that is if my DD decide that his is a responsibility that she is up for. The wonderful thing is that there is another friend of the fa...
