Be Still and Know...Then and Now

It feels like my life may implode like in a science fiction movie. You all know when a black hole develops and a planet gets sucked in. There is a massive explosion followed by a brilliant celestial event. Well with all the activity over the last few days it feels like there is a black hole hovering just above my house and is about to reach critical mass any minute now…..I have had bad weather, vacation planning, shoe shopping, cloth shopping, grocery shopping, birthday party shopping, birthday party planning… Y’all all I have done over that last few days it seems is whip out the old debit card….more money please. Not to mention my Disciple closing and all with in a few days of each other. Y’all it was not intentional but it seems that all these things have sort of piled up in a heap and all need to be done all at the same time. Where to start… On Thursday I went to meet the newest addition to the world. She was born Thursday morning at 10:27 to the DD of one of my oldest and dearest friends. She is a precious 7 plus pound bundle of sweetness. I am looking forward to being able to share the blessings of grandmother-hood with my friend, however we are having a slight disagreement. Going under the principles of seniority I feel I deserve the lone title of “Her majesty” gather than granny, ma ma or whatever other grandma-ish type names are out there and she is sadly under the mistaken idea that she can claim this prestigious title for herself. Oh well, I suppose there is room in the world for two supreme rulers of the grandmother realm, even if I was first. In any event I suppose our grandchildren will decide for themselves what they will call us in due time. We both wait with great expectation to see what that will be. One minute things are going along like a fine summer day, the skies are blue, the sun is shinning and my cucumbers are coming up gang busters. Each day I wake with anticipating of the lazy nothingness that comes along with the unplanned randomness of a hot summer afternoon. I check the listing for the dollar theater, make sure I have plenty of ice coffee on hand and breath. I pick cucumbers, walk the dog and read a blog or two. I love summer! Sometimes in all the wonderful lazy randomness, life erupts! BANG! The door to hell opens wide and swallows up your life, well maybe the door to hell is to strong a description, maybe it should be more like the door to Jerry Springer's green room on “Who’s your Baby Daddy” day. No I have not dropped off the face of the earth, I have been preparing for several workshops that I will be leading at our 2008 Women’s Day of Excellence. Most of my time over that past several weeks has been spent in preparation and pulling together all my resources, making handouts, copies and restructuring all my various continuing education stuff into something that vaguely resemble something cohesive. I will be leading a workshop on prayer and on one developing a personal prayer retreat and leading a workshop on exploring different forms of prayer. Needless to say have been covered up for some time. I have been enjoying everyones blog entries but have not had the time to make many comments. You all have fed me when I was overwhelmed with the detail of preparation, thank you all for your wise insights and daily gems of how God works in your lives.
