Project 365 ~ Week 40:

Image
Hey There Y’all! Here is my week. Sunday, September 30 Sometime I can be a bit of a night owl. The curse of the fluctuating hormones. I found myself unable to sleep Saturday evening so I thought maybe a nice warm shower would help. Just call me graceful! I have a bathroom rug just outside my shower so normally I can maneuver myself from the shower to the closet with out incident. However the evil bathroom fairies chose to manipulate the bathroom space time continuum and I placed one foot down on the bathroom rug and with the other I stepped off onto the floor. WHAM! The next thing I knew there I was in a heap of wet towel and 52 year old limbs splayed out on my bathroom floor. Now remember that it’s after midnight, the Hub's is soundly snoring in the bed and I am laying on the bathroom floor…visions of the commercial “Help! I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” are running through my head. I am surprised the loud thumb didn't wake the hubs from his sleep but he managed to slumber...

Project 365 ~ Week 44: A bit under the weather and some Fall Color

Image
My week started with a trip to the drug store. It really started on the Friday before when I began to feel no so hot. By Sunday I was not a happy camper. My head felt like it was full of cotton and generally all I wanted to do was sit cuddled up under a blanket. Sunday, October 23 I’m a confirmed Alka Seltzer Plus advocate. For me it just works better than anything else I have tried. I also love the Halls cherry lozenges. They are packed with vitamin C, Zinc and Echinacea. Plus they are very tasty and help with your sore throat! Tuesday, October 25 I was feeling a bit better by Tuesday, enough to give my orange marmalade a taste. I was so pleased with the results. Click here for the recipe if you are so inclined. Not much photo worthy happened or maybe I was just milking the cold. I did take advantage of the situation to get a bit of rest. Friday, October 28 I have a tiny bit of fall happening in the back yard. There is not much of a fall showing but the Crepe Myrtles add a...

Project 365 ~ Week 43

Image
Well I only took pictures two day this week, yea I know kinda pathetic! I have a really good reason for my lack of photographic documentation though. A few weeks ago I started reading Francine Rivers “Mark of the Lion” series. Well I got so engrossed in these books I spent almost every spare minute with my nose stuck between the covers of these three books. I finally finished the last book on Saturday after we got back from our excursion up to the mountains. If you are looking for a great read then I would highly recommend this series. It is absolutely phenomenal. I simply could not put it down. It is all about the first generation Christians after the fall of Jerusalem and the destruction of the temple. It was fascinating to read about the lives of those first generation Christian's as well as get a glimpse of what life was like for all those who laid the foundation for our faith. It’s a strictly fictional book but the premise is real and a lot of real biblical characters are ...

It feels like fall y’all, and in only eight days….

Image
Well y’all I am sitting at my kitchen table with my windows open and the cool crisp fall breeze is blowing in, there is a pot of soup on the stove and in exactly eight day the hubs and I are off to San Francisco for a few days vacation. Whoooooo Hoooooooo!!!!!!! I’m off tomorrow to do a bit of shopping, vacation trips usually set my shopping anxiety aside, sometime ya just gotta have a little something new for a trip, if ya know what I mean. I might even go for the whole nine yards and do a manicure & pedicure for the occasion. We fly to San Francisco and we plan to spend some time in Napa Valley as well.  I am going to buy a spare memory card for the trip so I will not be hindered in my picture taking. Before my vacation euphoria travel anxiety completely takes over I wanted to get at least one more post in before I am wrapped up in packing, laundry and making all the last minute details with those who will be in charge of the DD while we are gone. Children a...

Not to far from where we live is the Elisha Winn House . Every year in October they have a country fair, they have homemade arts and crafts, jewelry, antique books, quilts, silk flowers and baked goods. They sell funnel cakes and snow cones and coke-a-cola in iced glass bottles. They usually have local talent giving singing performances. There are an assortment of local folks dressed in period costume in the various surrounding buildings which include a school house, a blacksmith shop and jail. There are other people who give demonstrations of various artisan crafts such as weaving on a loom, woodworking and demonstrating blacksmithing and throwing of clay pots. It made for a pleasant hour or so as we walked around and watched the various project underway. The display on the inside of the house gives you a glimpse into what life must have been like before the world of modern convenience took control. I stood and watched the woman carefully and methodically push her shuttle back and fo...
