Project 365 ~ Week 18:

Image
Sunday, April 29 The week began with a crunch…you can click here to read a blow by blow description of the entire exhausting day! Needless to say I was not a happy camper and it put a damper on my attitude for the rest of the week! I wish I was more like my husband in certain aspect of my life. Men have that wonderful capacity to just let things go. Me not so much! Wednesday, May 2 In an effort to distract me from my anxious thoughts I focused on finishing this prayer shawl project that had been lingered in my crochet bag for a very long time. The pattern is called the Corner to Corner. It is a fairly simple pattern, however, its a bit time consuming. It is a very beautiful but I would not call this one a quick project by any stretch of the imagination. Friday, May 4 I had an appointment at a body shop. After multiple conversations with various insurance folks I have managed to shake off some of my residual anxiety that was sticking to my attitude. Thankfully we have a poli...

Project 365 ~ Week 17: Playdough, Mommy Treasures and a Party

Image
Monday, April 23 .98 cents worth of salt, $2.50 worth of flour and a few other ingredients and you have enough playdough to last the entire summer. Thursday, April 26 a little Then and Now!!!!! Every mom knows the moment they walk in and find their child sitting on the floor holding a pair of scissors surrounded by piles of wacked up hair! I think it must be some randomly pre programmed event that is built into every child's DNA. A lovely unexpected event placed by the Lord into each child's genetic make up. Like the roll of the dice you just never know when the program will occur. 1993 ~ My Son…………………………………1999 ~ My Daughter 2012 ~ Muffinhead found the scissors y’all! Needless to say mom was not very happy! Muffinhead and Angel Baby have matching heads now! Friday, April 27  The DD 17th birthday is this weekend. They made there own personal pizza’s, had a spa night and then spent the rest of the evening doing what teenage girls do best. Acting silly, giggling, talki...

A little then and now…..a year in my back yard!

Image
A lot has changed in my back yard from when we first moved in. We took up residence in May of 2006. It was also in the midst of one of the worst droughts we have experience. There was such extreme water restrictions that the option for doing any work in the back yard seemed nearly impossible. It was not until the fall of 2009 that water restriction were lifted and beginning to renovate our barren back yard seemed even possible. This is what the backyard looked like on September 28, 2009…..   I thought that it might be an interesting idea to try and take a picture of the transition from one season to the next so scroll thought and take a small trip. March 1, 2011   March 14, 2011 March 25 April 1 April 22 May 2 May 20 May 27 June 6 July 1 August 18, 2011 September 10, 2011 October 28, 2011 December 26, 2011 March 3,2012 Well that was a year in my backyard! As you can see from this last picture that weeding needs to be done already and it’s o...

Mommy Treasures

Image
Last week when I was with Muffinhead she turned and looked at me. It was a very simple gesture but in that second it’s amazing how quickly the mind works. All the mental images I have stored in my memory banks begin to roll past. She looks so much like her dad it is startling at times. She plays like him too. This morning I was flipping though one of my bibles and I came across this picture. It was 1993, I remember this day. It defiantly falls under the category of a Mommy Treasure. I went outside to check on him in the back yard and he came running up from the very back of the yard and he was covered from head to toe is dirt! Y’all he had been having a high ol time! I remember the smile on his face, how he smelled, that little boy dirty sweaty I’ve been having fun smell. He was totally oblivious to his physical state and was only filled up with how much fun he had been having. Now fast forward to last Wednesday! 1993          ...

Then and Now ~ School Daze

Image
I am dazed and amazed. It was just the “Then”of yesterday and today is the “NOW” and at 5:45 this morning to boot! Then the  first day of Kindergarten…with pig tails and a red checked sun dress… Now, the first day of High School…with mascara, eyeliner, 30 minutes to flat iron the hair and her coolest T-shirt and cutest shorts… My how time flies… The DD got up at 5:00 A.M. but I slept until 5:45 A.M., I think tomorrow I will set the alarm for 6:00 A.M. and hopefully she will decide that she does not need a full 75 minutes to achieve the desired teenage perfection. It really is all about the hair y’all! Blessings R

Then and Now…

Sometimes when a moment happens it just hits you right out of the blue. You know those moments that will be a part of your memories forever more. It was simple enough, we were sitting at the table eating dinner Saturday night. If you visited here on Sunday and read my 365 post you will see further pictures about the Birthday dinner. The birthday celebration was memorable, but I think what I will remember most is this. I was watching my granddaughter exuberantly enjoying her corn and this memory flashed into my mind of 20 odd years ago. A nearly carbon copy of the exact same moment was being played out before me. We were camping and there was a sweet blue eyed, blonde haired corn covers baby perched at the end of the table. The high chairs were even nearly identical! I watch my granddaughter and remembered my son and enjoyed my little trip down memory lane in a mothers heart! Then ~ 1990 Now ~ 2010 Blessings Y’all R

One…Two…Three ~ Then and Now!

The more things change the more they stay the same! This statements is so very simple but also very true! A picture is worth a thousand words and twice as many memories and smiles! 1990 ~ The Son 1996 ~ The Daughter 2010 ~ The Granddaughter Blessings Y’all! Robin

Then and Now…and you asked so here it is “My Alarm Clock!”

Image
I love digital y’all. It just frees me up to take as many pictures as I want. Don’t you wish you had all your older pictures in digital format? I know I do. That is a project for another day. How long would it take to scan all the hard copies of all the pictures I have in albums????  But I digress. I have been enjoying the blossoming of my Christmas Cactus even though it waited until March to start producing blooms. Here is my Christmas Cactus on January 9, 2009. Flash forward to this past Thursday, March 18, 2010. It is about twice the size as it was last year. I am wondering if it has decided that it is now an Easter Cactus since it waited until March to bloom? I’m wondering will it ever even back out and start  blooming at Christmas???? Any Cactus expert out there??? EDIT: after reading all the inquires in my comments about my alarm clock I snapped a few pictures of it this morning. It’s La Crosse, the little side piece pivots and you can either direct i...

My Garden: Then and Now

Image
Come with me on a trip down memory lane for a short two minute video. After viewing it you will have a greater understanding of my yearning and my desire to improve the view from my back door. It seems like such a daunting task. After three years of terrible drought conditions and many many water restrictions I have decided to throw caution to the wind and take a leap of faith that we will have a season of wonderful rain showers to help my fledgling garden take root. I have only scratched the surface on transforming the barren wasteland that is my backyard. It must begin somewhere and the first shovel full of dirt has been turned over and the process has begun. Several weekends ago I set out to get my veggie garden ready. I have always wanted a raised garden bed and I decided that since I was starting from scratch it seemed only logical to take the necessary steps, and selfishly I just couldn't take it any longer. I just wanted it, I felt like a toddler stomping her little feet scr...
