coming or staying: a conversation with the DD

I walked into the DD room, she is sitting on the bed listening to her/my IPod, but that is a whole other story that I will delve into at a later date! “I am heading out are you coming or staying?” The kids have a day off from school today due to a teacher furlough day. “I’ll stay here.” the DD says. “Are you sure, you could be my chauffer. You need the driving time. Plus I thought you wanted to get an application at the new pizza place?” “Can’t you just pick one up for me?” “It would be better if you did it in person!” “Where are you going? I don't want to be gone all day!!!” “Well I need to go to Wal-Mart, stop by Home Depot, maybe go to the ATT store and look at new phones, get the emissions done on the car and a few other things…” She hops off the bed, “OK I”ll go, it will take me a few minutes to get ready though!” The deciding factor….she really wants a new phone! I may just leave that one off till the very last just for fun y’all! My bad!   Blessings R

What were y’all doing at 6:20 this morning?

It was 6:20 A.M. I am warm and snug in my bed and I feel a light touch on my shoulder. “Mom, It really thundering a and lightening outside, Can you give me a ride to the bus stop?” I stumble out of bed and get dresses. I am thankful for my coffee. We hop in the car a few minutes later. It was coming down really hard and there was some pretty nasty thunder and lightening lighting up the skies. The bus rounds the corner and comes down the street. The DD hops out of the car and makes her way to the bus stop. I could have put the car in drive and made my way back home but I stayed for a few minutes and watched her standing there in the dark. The rain had lessened just a bit and there were two more teenagers approaching the bus stop. I sat in my warm dry car sipping my coffee and I had one of those memory flashes. How many times did I stand watch over the bus stop when my children were little. Sometimes chatting it up with the other mom's in the neighborhood. Other times just watc...

Project 365 ~ Week 10

Sunday, February 27 Sunset…AWESOME! Monday, February 28 For dinner it was Pork Chops lightly floured and fried, stuffing with roasted red peppers, spinach and fennel, spiced cranberry sauce, fresh pineapple and red grapes. Tuesday, March 1 Ever had a Blood Orange? When I was at the new Kroger I picked up a bag. The jury is still out. I have no frame of reference so I am not sure if the way they taste is how they are supposed to taste or maybe I just got a bad batch. They are very sour! The Cherry Tree in the back yard is in full bloom! I think it subliminal but when I make my afternoon ice coffee in a Starbuck’s cup it tastes a better. I love watching the milk swirl around just before I give it a good stir. Wednesday, March 2 I am not sure if this is a praise or a concern. I posted about the Starbuck’s  in the new Kroger last week. Well the mileage on the trip-o-meter measured exactly .5 miles to the Starbuck’s from the front of my subdivision. Thursday, March ...

Apparently I don’t know anything….

We are getting ready for church and I step into the DD bathroom to use her flat iron, hers is of course better than mine. She is helping me with the last few strands in the back to make sure I will not embarrass her to terribly with unfinished hair when her phone vibrates. It’s 7:30 AM, I’m thinking exactly who is she texting with at this hour and on a Sunday morning no doubt. Me being the mom and all I ask “Who was that?” “Oh that was so and so, I asked her if I could borrow a pair of her footie socks, I’m wearing my flats to church.” With a tile of my head I respond “I just bought you a brand new pack of trouser socks!” “Mom! You can’t wear THOSE kind of sock with flats!” I stand corrected, while I am wearing my black trouser socks whilst wearing my flats I might add apparently the whole concept behind wearing skinny straight leg jeans and flats is so that the top of your foot shows…who knew apparently not me. It boggles the mind…..   R
