Four and Five

It happens very unexpectedly. I was cleaning out an old bible case and I come across this…   Every mom has them, those precious photos that have been tucked away in the pages of your bible, memories that you want to keep close to you as you pray or just a sweet face that you want to hold close to your heart. These pictures had been long hidden, tucked away in that old bible case for a very very,very,very long time. Skoots1mom and I were enjoying an ice coffee after our workout this morning. I pulled these photograph out to show her. We sat and looked at the sweet faces of my babies who are now 20 and 14. Y’all my children are no longer babies. This precious face, he was four years old. I remember this day. He was enjoying himself at a birthday party of one of his friends from church. Y’all just look at those curls and that sweet smile! There’s something about Worship.

There are times when it is easy to be witty and share about a lost coffee scoop , then there are moment when life is so real and so clear and God’s plan for how things are supposed to work is so very apparent . Even when things don’t seem to go the way I think they should God has an amazing way in showing me that even in sadness and heartbreak there is great hope. I think Sunday mornings are my favorite day of the week. The expectation of coming together in the house of the Lord, the anticipation of a shared experience, the deep soul thirsty feeling that gets satiated with the lifting up of hands and the bending of a knee. Having the word of God opened up and delivered in a unique way. A song that touches a tender place with in my heart. In worship this morning, as it happens quite often these days I am moved to tears as the music washes over me. Part of my emotional response is simply a filling up of how amazing my God truly is and the other part is a deep desire to see my prayers fu...

Out of Sight out of Mind

I have to share with all of you that I am in an unusual pace. For so long all I wanted was some peace and quiet. All I wanted was for the anxiety and the tension to be removed from my home. Thoughts like “I just want him out of my home!” would be daily occurrences’ in my conversations. Immediately after these kinds of thoughts I would feel like a horrible mother. But it did not make it any less true. After a while the well of your motherly compassion runs a bit dry after you have been verbally abused, taken advantage of and lied to for the millionth time. Your motherly compassion tends to be placed on the back burner when you find revolting reading material hidden under the sofa in his room. Your motherly compassion is beginning to run on fumes with every new lie or new situation you see him enter into that you find questionable or heartbreaking. But here is the strange part.
