It’s that time again! Time to dive right in with all the wonderful randomness!!!!! 1. Is there a word which you initially mispronounced? Were the circumstances in which you made the faux pas embarrassing? By the way, that's not "foax pass." (I know you know that. Just jokin' with ya.) Just pick a chapter in the Old Testament, which we just happen to be wading through in Disciple I at the moment and you will quickly get over the act of mispronunciations. 5 Now Adonijah, whose mother was Haggith, put himself forward and said, "I will be king." So he got chariots and horses [ a ] ready, with fifty men to run ahead of him. 6 (His father had never interfered with him by asking, "Why do you behave as you do?" He was also very handsome and was born next after Absalom.) 7 Adonijah conferred with Joab son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar the priest, and they gave him their support. 8 But Zadok the priest, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, S...

1. Have you, or has someone close to you, ever won an award for anything? How many Perfect Attendance and A-B Honor Roll, Most Improved in Band and the various school awards for both my children do I have stored away in a box. I could probably paper my bathroom or hallway with them. But then that’s good thing I suppose. 2. Who is the nearest relative to you who has served in the US Military? My father In Law who passed away this past December was retired military. He was in the Army and was assigned to the presidential Flight Crew for President Kennedy and then President Johnson after President Kennedy's assignation. My MIL has many pictures of him in the mix of when they brought President Kennedys body back to Washington. He served a tour in Vietnam. When he passed away the held a full military funeral at the National Cemetery here in Georgia. It was impressive and very moving! 3. Share something that stirs the patriotic spirit in you. If you want to really experience the tru...

1. What insect are you most afraid of? Feel free to post a picture. I am not sure I would call it being afraid of, I would more accurately define it as being startled by…and that would be a Grand Daddy Long Leg Spider. They have this invisible way of sneaking up on you and then all of a sudden you find them crawling up your arm or across your face. I am startled only for an instant then my revulsion turns into vengeance as they are flung from my body and then stomped flat never to startle again! 2. What is the greenest/most organic thing about you or that you do? I have to say, I am a recycling fiend. If I see it in the trash and it can be recycled then it is going to get removed from the trash and placed  in the recycling bin. I save my batterers, I have switched to rechargeable batteries when appropriate. I still buy non rechargeable batteries but I find the the rechargeable are good for a few things. I repurpose things, like butter tubs. They make great to...

  1. What is your favorite fair/carnival food? Wow! I can’t remember the last time I went to a carnival or a fair! If I have to pick I would say that nothing beats a fresh hot soft pretzel. However When the hubs and I were in San Francisco we did have some really amazing fresh from the fryer donut holes sprinkled with sugar and a nice hot cup of hot cocoa to go with them, they were really good! 2. Are you holding onto something you need to let go of? Don’t we all! and no I’m not telling what it is! 3. What is your favorite gift to receive? Anything that makes my life easier! The hubs always complains when I ask for things like a cheese grater for Christmas, but if I don't have one and  I need one then giving me one will really make me happy! 4. When was the last time you tried something new? Strictly gastronomically speaking I have been on a mission to broaden my dinner time offerings. I have over the last few months ventured out in many different area...

Well here goes it for this week! 1. Would you rather host party or simply attend a party? Probably attend, however hosting would not be an issue either. Y’all know me, move out of my way and hand me an apron and I’m good to go! It’s all about the pre prep work and having a plan! 2. Tell us about the most memorable party you've been to. From time to time my accountability sisters and I will have the occasional gathering. We have a new years day brunch every year, sometimes we will get together for various other holidays or for a birthday and sometimes we will just get together for nor reason at all. We all bring something and just enjoy each others company. We will laugh, eat, fellowship, maybe play a game of Wii, or a board game, card game etc. It doesn't have to be fancy or elaborate it just has to be time spent together! As we are closing out these evenings we linger and find it difficult to part from one another because we don't want the evening to end. ...

1. What is one really fast, know-by-heart "go-to" meal to fix in a pinch? I usually have all the ingredients to fix either chili or spaghetti in my pantry at all times. That’s practically a no brainer. Pancakes are another quick fix at my house a little flour, eggs, buttermilk, a pinch of that and a dash of this and you’re done, I can always manage to toss any leftovers in a pot with a few cans of chicken or beef stock and off set with some other pantry ingredient for a big ol pot of soup. Having a well stocked panty is the key! When I am running low on canned good like chicken stock, tomato sauce, tomato paste, chopped tomatoes with green chilies, green chilies, roasted red peppers, beans, rice, pasta, egg noodles, condensed soup it’s time to go the the grocery store. Plus I try to keep on hand onion, celery, carrots and garlic. Another super quick meal is to take pork medallions and season both sides well with salt and pepper. Slice one large onion or two small onio...

1. Please share one memory of your high school graduation. I had a red cap and gown, I remember we had the commencement ceremonies at the football stadium. It was hot, but beyond that I don’t remember much else!   Back in the dark ages they did not do all the hoopla at graduation that they do now. Even if they did do hoopla my mom could not have afforded to do all the hoopla! I think we may have sent out invitations, but there was no senior locker decoration, senior week, they did not put signs in the front yard or decorate cars. The only picture we had taken was the one done by the school with the navy blue velvet drape across the shoulder. I just looked for that picture it in my albums and could not find it, my mom may have it. I did find the above photo, just look at the enthusiasm in that face!  They did not do the multiple wardrobe changes at a professional photography studio that most parents do now. I do remember getting a senior ring, which in hindsight was a t...

1. What was the last thing about which you procrastinated? Balancing my bank statement, making my daughters orthodontist appointment, taking the DD cell phone to the phone store to see what is wrong with it, paying doctor bills (those can always wait), going to the grocery store (except when we are out of coffee and toilet paper), folding laundry, sorting laundry, doing laundry, putting laundry away why oh why can’t cloths be disposable , dusting, mopping and vacuuming… 2. How long does it take you to fall asleep, and do you sleep through the night? That depends, if my “hores” are “moaning” then I have bouts of sleepless-ness. Melatonin helps with these sometimes. Mostly I have good nights. I did here a radio interview with Dr. OZ the other day. He recommend that 30 minutes before bedtime you turn off the television, lower the lights and read or listen to some soothing music. He said that the active brain stimulation of watching television or working on the computer right b...

Well it’s official. The ol’ laptop is dead! I am off today to buy a new hard drive that will hopefully revive it! I did manage to make it through the day yesterday without the earth spinning off it’s axis while my laptop did double duty as a large paper weight. Bear with me as I get all my technical difficulties worked out and I will be back in the blogosphere as soon as everything is re formatted, re loaded, downloaded and updated and re-installed again…. So now on to more important things like Random Dozen. 1. Have you ever been so lost that you were really afraid? I remember once when I was very young and in a search for my first job. I found myself on a bus in downtown Atlanta with a slip of paper with the address of my job interview held in my shaking tight little hand. That was back in the dark ages before cell phones, GPs or Google maps. I had placed my confidence in the hands of the gruff and unfriendly bus driver. I got on the bus and told him where I was going and d...

1. Ever had any run-ins with the "library police?" It's been a while, probably a year or so ago, I received a notice from a collection agency. This letter strongly recommended that I pay my $60.75 fine for for my overdue library books before legal action was taken. Well since I was heading up to the local branch later that afternoon for my daughter I took the nasty little letter with me to investigate. Let me state up front that I know lots of friendly informative librarians. I love the library, I even marched in the pouring down rain ( http://rlambright.blogspot.com/2009/09/i-was-216.html   still don't know what is going on with Live writer and hyperlinks ) to keep this facility open!!! However on that particular day for whatever reason the library police were in rare form. I showed the letter to the librarian and she informed me that it was for several books that had been check out at a library that I had never even been too. They were children's books, books ...

This picture is a clarification for question 1: 1. How do you feel about "Gladiator" sandals, also called "Roman" or "Jesus" sandals? A fashion yea or nay? Nay! But if I had to pick one it would be #9. 2. What is your favorite pizza? Love the Spinach Alfreado pizza!!!!! 3. There are plans in the works to sell roughly 1,000 items from Star Trek: The Experience in Las Vegas. This means you could buy Picard's chair for your family room. If not a Star Trek item, what prop, background, set, etc. from what TV or movie would you buy if you could? [Ex: Hurley's "I Love my Shih tzu" shirt from LOST, the plantation home "Tara" from Gone With the Wind, or Tracy's tambourine from the Partridge Family.]   Huge Star Trek fan here! So this is a really hard question to answer. I don't think I could pick just one thing. Captain Picard's communicator, I love it when they reach up and give it a tap ...
