Be Still and Know...Then and Now

Hold the phone, stop the presses, shut the front door and get out of town y’all! I have all seven days again this week! I could not contain myself to just one picture a day this week. It seemed that every time I turned around this week there was something new to take a picture of! I was snap happy all week long y’all. So here is my week! Sunday, April 1 It was such a beautiful day that we decided to cap it off with an impromptu pic-nic. We made a trip through the KFC drive thru and picked up some chicken and had a lovely dinner at the park. The Hub’s got the extra crispy and I got the grilled! Later when we were taking the dog for a walk I just had to stop and admire this stand of deep purple Iris down the street from us. I am resisting the urge to sneak over and dig up a bulb for my own back yard. I just love the contrast between the deep purple and the bright yellow throats! Well here is my week y’all! Sunday, March 18 Here is a picture of my first ever knitted article of clothing. Muffinhead’s mom and I found this pattern. It looked simple enough. She picked out some yarn that she liked and I got busy with my needles.   About half way through I began to suspect that it was going to be to large. When all was said and done it is about two, if not more, sizes to big. The DD even tried it on and it almost fit her.   Note to self": Never attempt to knit a garment without making a sample gauge first. The instruction called for size five needles. I actually had to go down to a size three needle to get the correct size gauge. Go Figure. My only problem now is that I have that nagging “Nanner Nanner Boo Boo” voice in the back of my head. Well it was an off week for me, not in the sense of something bad happening, but when the hubs is out of town I take some time off. I stocked up the frig with chicken pot pies and frozen pizza and I use the time to kinda do whatever I want. I did all the normal things this week, I had a visit with Muffinhead this week, no cute pictures thought, went to bible study but basically I was at one with my yarn and Kindle all week long during my down time. Monday, February 13 Y’all I have to brag a bit. I opened up the mail on Monday and found this. The hubs is so thoughtful. As he was heading out of town for two weeks he dropped this in the mail at the airport so I would get his valentine card on time! I made sure to point out to my DD that when it comes time to shop for husbands she needs to pay special attention to what a good one looks like and make sure to get one just like her dad! Hey there y’all! Sunday, August 21 More knitting………if you remember last Sunday, well this Sunday was not very different. I think I have just reached my boredom threshold with the homespun and the crocheting. I am still keeping a crochet project going but I am really trying to focus on learning how to knit. I guess what I mean is really learning how to knit beyond just the basic knit and purl stitches. One day I hope to be able to describe knitting as easy. However thus far it seems to be taxing my mental capacity to the very limits. This stitch is a bit on the complicated side, complicated for me anyway. The problem I have is retention. As soon as I flip my piece to the other side I immediately forget what row I have just completed. Did I just do three or four? You may be laughing but in the split second it takes me to turn the piece that little tid bit of information just flies out of my head.
