Out of Pocket....well sorta but not really

We are in the middle of some major computer upgrades. I am currently in the process of restoring all my files and the time table is looking like it will be a few days before all my necessary files have been re-established. The old desk top was on it's last legs and the hubs acquired a newer (slightly used) one from the abandoned pile that accumulated at his office. We now have a much faster model however it will take several day to get everything loaded back on and all my files back in place. The joys of a new computer. I am thankful for the increased speed additional space om the HD. So I will see all of y'all in a few days once I have all my digital ducks in a row........ Blessings R

Flashback Friday ~ Friendship

Image
We've talked about families, so it seems only natural that we should talk about the friends we had when we were growing up! Who was your first friend? One of the first friends I can remember was a girl named Donna. She and her mom and brother lived in the apartment below us. They were in a very similar situation to ours. Donna and I were the same age and we both had younger siblings. We were both growing up in homes with no fathers present. Our rooms were directly under each other and in the summer time we would leave our windows open, we had an elaborate system of passing notes and other thing back and forth. We had constructed a small basket made out of popsicle sticks and tied a string to the handle. We would lowered this basket back and forth between the windows. We would lay in our beds and carry one long dreamy handwritten conversation long after the lights were turned off over what our wedding would be like. What our apartments would one day look like. Wh...

Out of Pocket – Sadness and Loss

If you are a friend of mine on Facebook then you are aware that we have experienced a loss in our family. My father-in-law passed away on Monday. It has been a whirl of activity over the last two days and today will be no different. It takes an hour and 15 minutes to get there which means it takes an hour and 15 to get back. We have made this trip three times since this past Saturday, and we will do it again today. This gift in all of this is that we had just spent the entire afternoon with my in-laws on Saturday. My husband got to spend some vey good one on one time with his father all afternoon. God is so god y’all! Long car trips aside, being a bit tired, only pails in comparison to the unfathomable concept of loosing a husband. My in-laws would have been married for 58 years next month. The years of first begins. I ask your prayers for all my husbands family members in the loss of their father. For all the grandchildren, my two included as we grieve his loss. The fune...

Remember Me???

Image
One minute things are going along like a fine summer day, the skies are blue, the sun is shinning and my cucumbers are coming up gang busters. Each day I wake with anticipating of the lazy nothingness that comes along with the unplanned randomness of a hot summer afternoon. I check the listing for the dollar theater, make sure I have plenty of ice coffee on hand and breath. I pick cucumbers, walk the dog and read a blog or two. I love summer! Sometimes in all the wonderful lazy randomness, life erupts! BANG! The door to hell opens wide and swallows up your life, well maybe the door to hell is to strong a description, maybe it should be more like the door to Jerry Springer's green room on “Who’s your Baby Daddy” day. And then I look around and I wonder what happen to my calm peaceful life and my lazy summer randomness. Rest assured that even as life has been erupting and the chaos was whirling I had my priorities in order. I took time each day for my morning visit to m...

Multiple Choice Pop Quiz

Will I be:  1. out of pocket to be out of control; way off base. usually deserving of a good slapping or a full-blown butt- kicking. or  2. out of pocket   To leave your designated area or be out of range. or 3. out of pocket   Paid from personal funds.  It is amazing what you can find on the Internet , who knew that "Out of Pocket" has such a wide variety of meanings.  Sadly there are time when I am out of control and in need of a good hard slap or possibly a butt-kicking ( I will say that I took some editorial liberties and chose a different albeit not as colorful substitution in definition 1.)  Also there are many more time when I find myself paying (and paying and paying) for many things out of my own pocket as well. But the correct answer is #2.  I will be out of pocket for the next few days. I hope to be able to check in periodically, however as John Lennon once wrote: Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans. John Lennon ,  "Beautif...
