Good Morning again

Image
I am sitting outside listening to the birds, drinking my coffee and wondering about the small quiet moments in life. The big worries in my life such as the state of our retirement and the security and safety of my children seem tempered with a hefty dose of God’s comfort and reassurance. I was reading the creation story this morning. The details, God's ability to speak all that surrounds me into creation and I take great comfort in that. Listening to the birds, the cool of the morning breeze, watching the sun play off the dew on the grass, tiny specks of brightness vibrate across the tops of the blades of grass. For right now everything is just fine.

Project 365 ~ Week 27

Sunday, July 1 Sunday evening after dinner we were enjoying an DVD when we were interrupted by what we thought was the roof coming down upon our heads. Hail, big hail to be exact! The Hubs was concerned because it was so big it was bouncing up off the ground and smashing into the windows with such force we thought one might shatter. Thankfully no windows were broken and the sudden storm only last about 15 to 20 minutes! Monday, July 2 Well I hate to be a Debbie Downer but Cannoli’s are just not my thing! I was not impressed with the one I had in New York . That left me wondering what all the fuss was about! I did my usually Food Network search and found a few recipes. I thought I would give it a try to see if maybe I could improve upon my first experience. First I decided to forgo the lengthy process of making the cookie, copious steps were involved as well as needing some specialized cannoli forms which I do not have, not to mention deep fat frying so I opted on purchasing t...

Project 365 ~ Week 26

Image
Well it was a typical summer week here. It has been so hot (in the 100’s…YIKES!!!) lately that our activity has been confined to spending time with a good book in the pleasant air conditioning of the house. I am loving my Kindle and all the free downloads….. Sunday, June 24 There was a wedding at church on Saturday. I tried to capture the scale of these roses but this photographs just does not do it justice. They were the biggest roses I have ever seen. I pulled one out and laid it across the palm of my hand and it went diagonally across the full span of the palm of my hand. It was HUGE! and Gorgeous! Well they are finally coming in. As predicted I have a gazillion cherry tomatoes. You can bet I will be planting this Sweet 100 again! It has been a HUGE success! No pictures on Monday, June 25… Tuesday, June 26 We met for Prayer Shawl this morning and after our meeting I invited Skoots1mom back to the house for lunch. Ever since my New York Reuben experience I have not been a...

Look at the birds of the air….

I talk about my grandmother all the time here on my blog.  I was truly blessed to have wonderful grandparents. I have so many sweet memories of my grandmother but it occurred to me that I have not said much about my grandfather. I remember so many things about him. He passed away many years ago. He was a big man with an even bigger nose. I remember as a child begin fascinated by his gigantic nose. Is seemed to fill up my entire hand. One of his favorite things was bird watching. I think my appreciation of watching God’s special feathered creatures must come from him. I remember the excitement in his voice when a cardinal would come up to the feeder mounted outside the window in the breakfast nook. He would get so excited and point “Look and the red bird!” he would say! He kept a big fat book tucked behind the toaster that sat on the table and if a bird came up to the feeder that he did not know he would snatch the book out and begin to flip through the pages.   When we were...

There back…but can I show them to you?

Image
Well the Hummingbirds are back. They are attracted by these Cana Lilies. I have seen several pairs come for a snack. What I have learned is that actually getting a picture of a hummingbirds is a very difficult thing. Also just this morning “Mr. Yellow” returned and he brought “Mrs. Yellow” with him. They perched for a visit upon my tomato cages and by the time I returned with my camera they had flown the coop. However relying upon the highest standards set by the D.O.R.C. I will remain vigilant to try and document their return to this esteemed research facility! MT 6:26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Blessings R

Birds in my Chimney!

Image
No this is not a metaphor for the state of my mental health. This morning during my quiet time, I was met with the very pleasant sound of the birds. From time to time they will take up residence in my chimney. The early morning chirping was amplified and it sounded as if they were literally right there in my living room with me. I listened to the conversation of these birds and I began to think of how simple some things are and how complicated other things can be. For that quiet moment the birds chattered away and I just sat and drank my morning coffee and let the experience fill my quiet living room. It was a very good way to start the day. MT 6:25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not mu...
