I got four out of seven this week, I did some more Christmas shopping and I have a few more things to get and some stocking stuffers and then I will be done with my shopping. Yea for me! So lets get on with my week. No pictures on Sunday or Monday:( Tuesday, December 11 I was out in the backyard and I noticed that not only did I have some new leaf lettuce but I was super excited to see a very small head of lettuce in the works in my salad patch! I will be picking this very soon…the Hubs can’t wait. Wednesday, December 12 I broke out the heels for the Hubs office Christmas party. Thankfully it was a short party and I was not walking around in them for very long. Y’all I am not a Foo Foo girl. Thursday, December 13 I scored some really almost new looking books at Goodwill the other day. I found this one. It was a blast from my past. I simply could not walk out with out this childhood memory on my cart. It had been so long since I had read this book I had forgotten the story l...

Life is what happen while you are waiting on the oven timer to go off……..

Why is it that our holiday memories are so tied to the smells and taste we experience. Smell has a huge impact on memory. A smell will waft by in the breeze and I will be instantly taken back to what ever memory is sparked by that olfactory sensation. I remember the way my grandmothers kitchen smelled. I remember the way she smelled. I have to wonder sometimes what Muffinhead will remember about time spent at my house. Yesterday the DD and I spent time in the kitchen. I was supervising in the yearly macaroni and cheese making (oven timer………back in a minute)   Cookies cooling on the counter…….. So where was I…….right back to the mac and cheese, which is the DD favorite, she was rather distressed when she found this item lacking on the Christmas dinner menu. I had decided to make scalloped potatoes instead. She said “But if you don’t make it now I'll have to wait until Campmeeting to get it again!” Well I did a bit of menu shuffling and she is now a happy camper. However I did ...

First I have to say that with the Thanksgiving break being all but over I am finally actually feeling like Thanksgiving. I just sat down to a wonderful plate of leftovers and am feeling very satisfied. I’m coming to the party a bit late today but at last we have all our files back in place on the new desktop and I have my new birthday laptop up and running. I am comfortable blogging with my feet up in my favorite recliner watching Americas Funnies Videos. Thank You Jesus and my thoughtful husband that I am no longer chained to the desktop, nor do I have to fight the DD for computer time either……for that I am very thankful indeed! So this edition will be a culmination of the last two weeks. I did not get each day but I did get a few good shots….so let's get at it! Week 47 Monday, November 14 Things have changed around the Be Still and Know household as I am now watching Muffinhead four days a week. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays. I will keep this schedule up for the remin...

Orange Marmalade….it makes me think of my Grandma

Image
Back in June I posted about My Bucket List , you know all the things you want to do before you pass through the pearly gates. Well there are a lot of very wonderful places all around the worlds that are all worthy candidates. However living with limited resources one must be realistic. Dreaming about amazing places and even one day getting to check a few off my list are goals to aspire to. But it got me to thinking about the things that we can all do every day. Those things that are within or grasp. Improving our minds, growing closer to friends and family. Learning new things. I think for me one of the things that I have come to realize is that getting older is more about your state of mind. I know my body at times is very uncooperative as far as what I think I should be able to accomplish. However that does not mean that I need to yield to the process and just stop trying to learn new things. One of my all time favorite simple pleasures is Orange Marmalade. It always reminds me of ...

As weeks go it has been a relatively good one. So I thought it would join in on a bit of recognition of some of the good things this week! 1. Tuesday I finished up and turned in a prayer shawl, it is always a wonderful sense of completion to tie off the last know and fold it up and add it to the pile. 2. Sushi and good friends. Just spending time with one of my besties and having fun learning something new was a hoot and we got to enjoy the final result over lunch. Click here to see the full post! 3. Wednesday morning I spent a lovely few moments out in my garden very early in the morning. The only time time to work in the garden down in the south is before 9:30 am or it’s just get to darn hot. Well I grabbed my picking basket and and gloves and headed out the the back yard and as I opened the door I realized that there was a very light morning shower going on. It was a wonderful peaceful few moments as I knelt in the garden gently picking green beans from the vine listening th...

Project 365 ~ Week 23

The lazy days of summer…well maybe just the days of summer as we head into a week filled with preparation for Choir tour and a mission trip and all the necessary trips to wherever to get all the stuff the DD needs for her travels. This week however was a very laid back and normal kind of week. Sunday, May 29 I did not take any pictures today but it was my oldest child’s birthday. He celebrated his 22 year today! What momma doesn’t think back to when they were little and remember those first few moments with this new little person. The memories sent me to the photograph album and I had to share a few with y’all! Y’all I just burst into tears when I look at this picture. Me and Grandma and my sweet baby boy. This was the very first time the two of them ever met! My son was 19 days old in this picture. Is there anything more precious than a sleeping baby? or a fresh out of the bath, that clean baby smell…   I think this is one of my favorite picture of my sweet boy. He still...
