Project 365 ~ Week 8

Image
I only missed one day this week. By Friday evening I was down for the count. So I spent the day Saturday curled up in a blanket sipping my Alka Seltzer Plus and sleeping! Sunday, February 17 There is just something very satisfying about using a bowl that I made myself. This poor little bowl, a bowl only a mother could love, it wobbles and spins as it is not flat on the bottom and the rim is off and not flat either. But we were all happy with this new glaze combo.  It is just the right size for a double scoop of strawberry frozen yogurt. Monday, February 18 The Hub’s loves a big salad with something sliced up on top. I had some grilled pork chops in the freezer and I pulled them out and had dinner in under a few minutes. I love those kind of suppers! Tuesday, February 19 I entertained myself for a few minutes watching this Mourning Dove collect nesting materials in the back yard. It was very particular about searching for the proper ingredients. The nest is located on a la...

Project 365 ~ Week 1

Happy New year Y’all! Monday, December 31 I was still in recovery mode. That nasty tummy bug was still hanging on. I was past all the unpleasant symptoms but was still not feeling 100%. I spent the day snuggled up under my blanket and gently sipping Gingerale! Tuesday, January 1 My family gathered at my house for an early dinner on New Years Day. My three favorite girls, Muffinhead was a bit squirmy but I have to take when I can get’em! Left is my girl, the middle is Muffinhead and on the right is Neicegirl! Wednesday, January 2 The only casualty of Christmas…Mufffinhead strikes again! As you can guess I was grieving over this family heirloom (NOT) given that I spent a whopping $1.29. I have applied a liberal amount of super glue and we will see if it survives in the attic heat until next year!   Thursday, January 3 I am in major reshuffling mode here. I am moving things aground and reorganizing. I am trying to better utilize some of the storage space I have available...

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Happy New Year Y’all! I am still kinda taking it easy so I am lolling around in my jammies waiting for the girlchild to wake up. It’s our last day of the Christmas break and the Hub’s went back to work this morning so it’s just me and the dog curled up on he sofa right now watching the news and enjoying a morning of rest and doing not a whole lot!!!!!!!   1.  How did you ring in the new year? Unfortunately it was a very uneventful New Years Eve for us. Thankfully the worst of the symptoms had passed by New Years Eve but I was still recovering from a nasty bout of stomach virus. The Hubs and Girlchild celebrated with Chinese take out and I nursed a ginger ale and had a few sips of chicken noodle soup….woooo whooooo for me! 2.  What is one thing you are looking forward to in 2013? My goal for the year is to get started on redecorating my master bedroom. I can’t really say I am looking forward to it but I know once I get all the sewing (my lest favorite thing to do)...

Word Junkie: Under The Weather

We all use them. The common place expressions and phrases! I found a really great website that has the origins to all of those phrases we say and where the origins of the expressions came from. I find it fascinating to find out just where certain expressions come from. Having just dealt with a sick grandbaby and having a slight tinge of her tummy bug myself I was thinking about the expression Under the Weather. Thankfully I only felt a little under the weather and did not experience the unsetting side effects that Muffinhead did in the back of my van . I did however feel not exactly well later that evening and the next day I was feeling a bit icky! No matter how hard you try to clean things up it is nearly impossible to be completely thorough especially when you are have unpleasant substances all over your hands…..but thankfully my sufferings were minor compared to Muffinhead’s! Here is what I found! Copied from The Phrase Finder “What is the origin of the phrase, "I'm fee...

Project 365 ~ Week 44: A bit under the weather and some Fall Color

Image
My week started with a trip to the drug store. It really started on the Friday before when I began to feel no so hot. By Sunday I was not a happy camper. My head felt like it was full of cotton and generally all I wanted to do was sit cuddled up under a blanket. Sunday, October 23 I’m a confirmed Alka Seltzer Plus advocate. For me it just works better than anything else I have tried. I also love the Halls cherry lozenges. They are packed with vitamin C, Zinc and Echinacea. Plus they are very tasty and help with your sore throat! Tuesday, October 25 I was feeling a bit better by Tuesday, enough to give my orange marmalade a taste. I was so pleased with the results. Click here for the recipe if you are so inclined. Not much photo worthy happened or maybe I was just milking the cold. I did take advantage of the situation to get a bit of rest. Friday, October 28 I have a tiny bit of fall happening in the back yard. There is not much of a fall showing but the Crepe Myrtles add a...

Project 365 ~ Week 24

The Hubs and DD just headed out the door to church. I however have made the ultimate sacrifice and have decided to keep my blossoming cold and all the nasty germs that go with it to myself. I am always willing to share, except for a very few things… a cold being at the top of my list. It’s hard not to share things when you sleep in the same bed, decades of programmed kissed on the cheek and loving pecks as you head out the door, we try to switch to foreheads during colds but sometime without thinking one gets by us and BLAM, it’s my turn for the sore throat, sniffles and generally feeling yucky! I have been faithfully taking my Zycam since about 6:30 this morning when I woke to a scratchy throat and a stopped up nose, yea for me! I sent the hubs off with instructions to bring me a new bottle of Zicam home after church and hopefully I can head this one off at the pass.  Moving on to more pleasant topics, as I am still able to sit upright and my fingers still work I pres...
