Homemade Lemonade

IMG_1325

I am about to give you the best recipe ever.

All you need is one lemon and some seltzer and some simple syrup.

Squeeze the juice of one lemon in a glass, you can use a small strainer to catch the seeds if you like. Add simple syrup to taste, I use 1 or 2 tablespoons depending on the size of my glass.

Give this a quick stir.

Add ice and then top off with seltzer.

It is super good any time of the day but “Oh my gosh!” This is absolutely the best on a super hot day. I totally quenches the thirst not to mention all that vitamin c from the fresh lemon. It good with limes as well!

Spring is here y’all!

It is almost just beyond description. I have to say that if I had to pick a season as a favorite. It would be spring. The process of watching things push their way out of the ground and the tiny leaves on all the trees go from a tiny little sprout to leafing out in just a few days. It just fills my heart with such happiness. I look forward to each morning to see the progress of all the green-ness in my yard. A trip out to the grocery store or just running errands, well it is sometime hard to focus on driving when there are such explosions of color around every corner. It is just amazing!

Strawberries are here!

IMG_1213

Look at the size of this sucker!!!! I have been slicing them on my morning cereal, tossing them in my salads, I bought some soy milk and yogurt yesterday and there will defiantly be a good smoothie in the works for today or tomorrow. But my favorite way to enjoy a strawberry is to slice them up sprinkle a bit of sugar on them and let them macerate for a few minutes and then serve over some really good vanilla frozen yogurt. Heaven in  bowl!!

It’s Friday so tonight Jamie Oliver's Food Revelation will be on. I have to tell you I have really been enjoying this show tremendously! It really shines a light on the eating habits of the majority of most Americans. Over the last few months I have been trying to place meals on the table that are more healthy. Not that we eat a lot of processed food or junkie type foods but like most there is always room for improvement. I am really focusing on serving more fresh veggies and trying a few vegetation meals. It is a bit more labor intensive at times but so far it has not been that big of a deal. If you have not seen this show I would recommend that you check it out tonight. He also has an online petition going on in an effort to try to improve the meals that our children receive in our school cafeterias.

Well that my Friday Fav Five. For more Friday Fav Five Fun head over to Suzanne’s blog Living to tell the Story

Y’all have a great weekend.

Blessings

Robin

yummm to the strawberries! I love the Food Revolution too...I am a teacher and do see what is eaten AND not eaten...it is sad! We are in the process of adding more "real" food! The part when he showed what chicken nuggets really were made me so sick...anyway...have a great weekend

I was just thinking today I needed to see if any good strawberries were at the stores yet.

I am so glad spring is here, too!

It's been ages since we ate and played at a park, but my kids loved that when they were younger.
Can't wait until strawberries are in here. A little too early yet. I could eat my weight in fresh strawberries. Love & blessings from NC!

That line of blossoming trees is just beautiful! I can hardly wait until things start coming up and blooming around here.

We've been enjoying big strawberries too although they are not yet local ones. They've been so sweet I've just been eating them plain but my favorite way, although not the most healthy way, to have them is dipped in first sour cream and then brown sugar. Heaven on the tastebuds!

I've really been enjoying that show with Jamie Oliver too.
ooh that does sound like the best recipe ever. I can't wait to try it. I had some strawberries like that yesterday. They were so good.
Wow -- love that strawberry. The lemonade sounds lovely.

My son and I watch Jamie's Food Revolution together -- we love it.

Happy weekend.

Mmmmm, strawberries! I'll have to check out Food Revolution. I have read Real Food, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle and am now about 1/4 through Omnivore's Dilemna, so obviously I'm interested in 'food'.

Have a great weekend!
