Project 365 ~ Week 18

Sunday, April 25

Sunday brought the last session of my Disciple III class, our closing celebration dinner and commissioning worship service. Our last session was a powerful time of sharing, the celebration dinner was amazing and the worship service afterwards was a fitting end to our long journey together.

Skoots1mom (far right ) and I have know each other for years but I walked away from this study with six new Sisters in Christ!

Monday morning and my corn is coming up!

IMG_1632

The afternoon brought an interesting mix of bright blue skies mixed with these wonderful dense and dark clouds. Every now and again the sun would push though reminding everyone that it was still a very nice and blustery spring day!

Tuesday, April 27

I met Skoots1mom for lunch. We tried out a new Cuban restaurant. I had an authentic Cuban sandwich. It was really good!

 IMG_1669 IMG_1670

I am not sure what this is but it sure is showing off in a big way in my front yard!

Anybody know what this is. It was planted when we moved into the house???

IMG_1673

Sheppard's Pie for dinner! I forget sometimes just how good the really simple classics are!

Wednesday, April 28

Y’all one of my dearest and oldest friend's daughter is getting married in a few days. This is a wonderful and joyous thing, however it did put me into the dreadful situation of having to go shopping for a new dress.

I relented and did something that I hardly ever do.

I went to the mall!

 IMG_1677

Being the shopping challenged individual that I am I need all the help I can get. I rely on landmarks to help guide me back home. There is a restaurant right out side one of the main entrances to the mall with two of these giant horse statues flanking either side of the door.

I remain singularly focused on the fact that I can’t overlook these two giant white horse which will always remind me of which entrance I came in and where I am parked.

Aside from my massive anxiety at the prospect of entering this huge den of commercialism I did spend a few pleasant minutes watching the fountain. (another unmistakable landmark, two giant horse’s and a fountain, I can remember that!)

Watching the water spurt and splatter as the children run underneath made me almost want to shuck my flip flops and jump right in yhere with them.

IMG_1692IMG_1681 IMG_1682  IMG_1684

My third landmark is the food court, the smell of the Chick-Fil-A’s will always lead me back to the safe harbor of a semi comfortable chair, a chicken sandwich and a diet lemonade.

IMG_1685 IMG_1687 IMG_1688 IMG_1689

After making the rounds to Belk, Macy’s and Dillard's I left with aching feet and a black dress suitable for an evening wedding.

My fourth unmistakable landmark is this carrousel!

It’s like a giant trail of bread crumbs for me to follow.

The smell of chick-Fil- A mingles with the fresh brewed Starbucks. The unmistakable lilt of the calipee music and the bright sparkling lights of the carousel.

So it goes like this.

  • Belk's
  • carousel
  • Starbucks
  • Chick-Fil-A
  • fountain
  • giant horses
  • parking lot
  • home

A Birthday Dinner!

This is the “I’m smiling only because you are pointing a camera at me!” and not a real smile because I’m happy and feel like smiling!

Take the picture already mom!

I used my Grandma’s Green Water Goblet’s. I always think of her every time I pull them from the china cabinet!

Friday, April 30

These were a surprise. There was a hidden bunch of overgrown Iris tucked in a corner of the front yard. If you are unfamiliar with Iris, after several years they tend to get to crowded and will just stop blooming. You then have to dig them up and separate them and then spread them back out again. I dug them out last fall and replanted them. I knew there were some white ones in the mix but these wonderful purple ones were a big surprise.

I am so glad that I dug them out and replanted them. I can’t wait to get a few of these purple beauties round back to enjoy in the back yard.

Look at this tiny bit of interesting fungi growing in my parsley!

Well that is my week!

I will try to get round to you all later this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

So happy 365 to you all!

loved your pictures this week!!

and the info in the iris' is making me wonder if that is what happened to my cali lilies. They were planted before we moved in and each year have gotten thinner and thinner...I will have to try and dig them up this fall. Oh, have such a brown thumb!!!

Great photos, especially the fountain and the sky ones! Stunning. All of the are good, really.
Your mystery flowers are dianthus, i think.
Will you show us a picture of your dress, with you in it?

Man, you had a whole BUnChEs of great photos this week!! Especially enjoyed the whole "landmarks" series. :)

Purple flowers are my weakness. Don't know what those first ones are, but they are certainly interesting...and gorgeous! Let me know if you ever find out, because I'd really like to have some like that!

Those pictures from the fountain are super cool. I just took a pic of the fountain outside my window at work. I might have to see if I can get some close-ups like you did.

I want to see you in the dress too!
