Random Dozen – Plinko

Hey y’all!

Here is my contribution to this weeks edition of Random Dozen.

1. How old is the oldest pair of shoes in your closet?

28 years. I still have my wedding shoes wrapped in tissue paper in my closet. Edit: I just went to look for them to take a picture for y’all but they are not where I thought they were so you will just have to use your imaginations. They were not much to look at, just  very simple pair of white pumps. I got married at a local park and I needed something very simple with a wide heel so I would not sink into the ground as I walked down the path the the gazebo where we had the ceremony! So technically the oldest pair of shoes actually in my closet is a pair of black high heel shoes that I bought to wear on a cruise my husband and I took about a billion years ago, well maybe it as only 2002…

2. Did you buy Girl Scout cookies this year? If so, what variety?

Thin Mints

3. Do you know how to ballroom dance? If not, would you like to?

I would totally love to learn how to do this.

4. Were you a responsible child/teenager?

I give myself a 50/50. And since it’s like totally none of your business that’s all I’m saying! However, I will say that for a very large portion of my childhood I was a latch key kid and was responsible for getting supper started and behaving myself until mom got home. I will allow your imaginations to run wild in determining weather or not this standard was maintained as I entered my teenage years……

5. How many of this year's Oscar-nominated movies did you see?

One. My girls group did go and see Julie & Julia. I liked it but was slightly disappointed in the flow of the movie and I thought it was waaaaaay tooooo long! However I thought Meryl Streep completely transformed herself into the very essence of Julia, that was amazing to watch.

6. If you're going to have a medical procedure done, such as having blood drawn, is it easier for you to watch someone else having the procedure done or have it done yourself?

Both. I am totally not squeamish about being in the hospital or watching various procedures. But then over my many many years of life on this planet I have had more than my fair share of either being in the hospital myself or sitting bed side to some one I love who was in the hospital. So getting stuck, seeing blood or other bodily fluids, having stitches removed etc…well thats all part of the package. It may be unpleasant but it just is part of the process of healing.

7. What is your favorite day of the week and why?

Can’t pick just one. Sunday = Worship, Wednesday = Wednesday Night Suppers, Fellowship, Thursday = My Accountability Group. These three days of the week give me the emotional, spiritual and physical fuel to meet my week.

8. Do you miss anyone right now?

Yes!

9. Do hospitals make you queasy?

No!

10. At which store would you like to max-out your credit card. Not that you ever would, you responsible person, you.

The real question should be what store would you like to totally max your credit card at if you knew that you would not have to pay it all back.

Williams –Sonoma comes to mind, I could totally do some damage in that place, new pots and pans, small kitchen appliances, cutlery, table linens, new dinnerware, stemware, silverware…excuse me for a moment while I bask in the afterglow of this kitchen delusion.

Next on the list would be a furniture store, I would set a large bonfire in the front yard and burn every piece of furniture in my house (except for a very select few family air looms and my kitchen table) and buy all new furniture for every single room. On second thought I would go in the store and ask the in-store interior designer to just pick it all out for me and then rest while I waited for it to be delivered.

11. Are you true to the brand names of products/items?

Sorta. I have specific brands I use because I appreciate the quality or taste. I’m ok with generic as long as it works and tastes as good as the name brand. I’m ok with generic cereal, but have gone back to name brand Honey Nut Cheerios because they just taste better. I learned with my toilet paper coupon experiment that I’m a Charmin or Cottonell kind of girl. However why would you ever (in my opinion) pay more for over the counter med’s when the store brand is exactly the same for less money? Not me!

12. Which is more difficult: looking into someone’s eyes when you are telling someone how you feel, or looking into someone’s eyes when he/she is telling you how he/she feels?

That hugely depends on the feelings being verbalized. Warm fuzzes then eye to eye contact is essential. If your in my face then you can “talk to the hand.”

Well that’s it for me this week!

If y’all want to see more randomness then head over to Linda’s blog, 2nd Cup of Coffee.

Happy Plinko y’all!

Robin

We should absolutely shop together! Williams Sonoma! YES! That would work for me just as well as my choice!

My favorite days are worship and Bible study days too. We just NEED that LIFT, don't we?

I bet seeing J&J with your ladies group was a LOT of fun! :)

I think a bunch of us should just go shopping together. LOL

Williams-Sonoma has an outlet up the road a bit from here - it's a great place to contemplate maxing out!

I also like Sur Le Table -- but no outlet, sniff...

I put Williams Sonoma too. It's probably a good thing that we don't have one in my city and I have to go to the big city for find a store.

I saw Julie and Julia with my girls which was a lot of fun.

Meryl Streep...amazing actress! Great thought about not having to pay off the card...that would definitely make a difference!

The story about your wedding shoes made me laugh. We got married outside in a gazebo, but I wore heels. When I got to the gazebo my heel got stuck between the boards & I had to wiggle out of them in front of everyone!
