Project 365 – Week 10

Joining Sara for this weeks edition of Project 365.

Sunday, February 28

Yes it’s a Pomegranate Martini, strictly for medicinal purposes.

Sunday evening settled in along with a very nasty case of hormonal crankiness. It was a critical choice between chocolate or a martini. Maybe next time I will do a Google search for the recipe for a chocolate martini.

The cactus’ were looking a bit dusty so they were given a nice cleansing shower in the kitchen sink. The Christmas Cactus has some small buds on several of the branches. It did not bloom this Christmas because I repotted it just shortly after it bloomed the last time. All I can figure is that it has taken awhile to get use to it’s new home in a some what larger vessel. I have a friend who tells me that Christmas cactus prefer to be a bit crowded in their pots. Preferring the tight quarters of a smaller pot may have hasten the blooming until it grew into the new pot. So I am expecting some blooms any day now!

Wednesday, March 3

I spent a lovely evening at church as we do most Wednesday evenings. The food was wonderful (fried chicken, mac & cheese, green beans and a biscuit with cherry cobler for desert), the fellowship was even better and then it was off to my Prayer Shawl meeting.I did not make this one but it came home with me. I gave it to a a very special someone!

Thursday, March 4

Life happens sometime and the picture a day goal gets pushed down a bit on my list of priorities. No pictures today.

Friday, March 5

My goal of exploring vegetarian meals has gone well, sort of 50/50. My husband looked at me over dinner Friday night and asked “So aside from trying to save money on groceries why are we doing this???” His enthusiasm for my Pasta with eggplant puree was just seeping out of every pour of his body. Y’all I got me a good one as he saddled up to the table and endured the torture without complaint.

For those eggplant lovers out there her is the recipe.

Rigatoni with Eggplant Puree

I switched out the pasta and use rotinni instead of rigatoni, I also omitted the pine nuts. Other than that I followed the recipe fairly closely. If you are an eggplant lover then this probably would be a great dish for you. However, I am not sure I am an eggplant lover. It was good, but I don’t know if I will make it again. Hubs was a big no, DD liked it and I am still on the fence.

This recipe gets a “Not So Much” rating from my culinary standpoint! Although I will say that it looked really good!

Maybe switch the eggplant for zucchini or some other veggie????? Still thinking about this one!

Saturday, March 6

Spring is just around the corner. My new cherry tree is sprouting buds all over and there are tiny green shoots poking their heads up out of the ground all over.

Rest assured I made up for the eggplant mishap with some really good rib eye steaks on Saturday evening. I served them up with a big tossed salad, creamed potatoes with butter, sour cream, garlic and parsley and warm Italian bread. Going veggie every now and again is good but have mercy the steaks were wonderful!!!!

Well that’s it for me for this weeks edition of Project 365.

Blessings Y’all!

Loved the plant photos; I do not have a green thumb (actually I think mine is black) but I appreciate those who can grow them :-)

My mouth is watering for that steak meal!
And now I'm eager to go out in our woods and search for anything green popping up!
Wish I still had a Christmas cactus.
