Campmeeting: Day Four

I am pleased to report that last night's service was very well attended, however Tuesday evening is usually well attended, The Joy class hosted the covered dish supper. These are the saints of the church, they have been hit hard over the last few years, lots of saints going home to Jesus, in years past they had the numbers to host all by themselves, now they are joined by another Sunday school class. The food is always plentiful, comforting and folks look forward to Joy class night.

The second draw is Dr. Royeese Stowe, she has been a tradition for several years, folks love to come out and hear the word preached by Royeese, she brings a unique, powerful and humorous word from God. I love listening to her preach!

Third, the youth are in residence,  it just isn't campmeeting for me until I can sit after worship and listen to the young ones gather for their worship time under the arbor. I lean on the hope for the future knowing that there is a foundation being laid in the lives of these young people that will one day be the foundations of their adult life.

So many things have changes, but there are still some things that ring true.

I resolved the mattress problem, so I actually slept last night, praise Jesus!

Which brings me to my last thought for the morning.

My devo this morning included this scripture. Love having my bible and my devo on my phone, one more step to world domination. I can share directly from youversion to blogger...how cool is THAT!

But what hit me freshly again this morning was the verbiage use to describe hallowed. The author described hallowed to mean revered, respected and holy. When we approach the Lord, even when we use his name it should be with reverance.

The secular world tosses God’s name about attached to profanity. It hurts my ears and my heart to hear God’s name used so casually. They use it in general conversation as exclamations.

If I am honest, in my youth, before I came to know Christ I was guilty of misusing the name of God. Today I am much more intentional, hollowed be your name, this was how Jesus taught his disciples to pray.

It is how we should approach the thrown of God, with reverence and respect.

Matthew 6: 9 - 15

“This, then, is how you should pray: “ ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. ’

It's hard to be respectful all the times, it should be my goal. I am thankful that my internal dialog is just that, internal. My thought life will always be a struggle. Controlling the words that come out of my mouth is a word by word exercise for me.

Even knowing that God hears my every spoken word, and the ones that are unspoken, does not stop me from saying something ugly.

Lord help be to be reverant when speaking to you and about you.

I'll close this morning with a picture.

Another campmeeting foundation is being built...

Me and my Muffinhead

We say the Lord's Prayer every Sunday at church - I love hearing us pray it in unison (since we do it every week we all know exactly when to pause & when to keep going). But, that being said, it's always a good idea to really think about what we're saying... My favorite part is "on earth as it is in heaven." That right there is my commission to be Jesus in the world.
