Wednesday Hodgepodge

Happy New Year Y’all!

I am still kinda taking it easy so I am lolling around in my jammies waiting for the girlchild to wake up. It’s our last day of the Christmas break and the Hub’s went back to work this morning so it’s just me and the dog curled up on he sofa right now watching the news and enjoying a morning of rest and doing not a whole lot!!!!!!!

1.  How did you ring in the new year?

Unfortunately it was a very uneventful New Years Eve for us. Thankfully the worst of the symptoms had passed by New Years Eve but I was still recovering from a nasty bout of stomach virus. The Hubs and Girlchild celebrated with Chinese take out and I nursed a ginger ale and had a few sips of chicken noodle soup….woooo whooooo for me!

2.  What is one thing you are looking forward to in 2013?

My goal for the year is to get started on redecorating my master bedroom. I can’t really say I am looking forward to it but I know once I get all the sewing (my lest favorite thing to do) done I will be a happy camper.

I am also looking forward to whatever “New Thing” the Lord brings my way. I am looking for a good bible study, I want to continue working with the clay and my acrylic paints, banging it up in my kitchen and spending as much time with those that I love as humanly possible.

3.  Steven Spielberg is quoted as saying, "All of us every single year, we're a different person.  I don't think we're the same person all our lives."  What say you?

I love a good Spielberg move but I have to disagree with his statement. I think down in our core of who we are we don't change much. Having reared a strong will child I can actually say that his nature was steadfast from the time he was born and remains to this day, There was not a lot to shift going on. I think we all grow as people as we mature. However I think our basic human nature, our character DNA is what it is. We all have a natural bent toward sin and it is a matter of choice to overcome that sinful/self indulgent nature, whatever that may be, the cocktail or the cookie . I know that really simplifies thing down the a very narrow margin and overcoming a sinful habit is very difficult…I get that!

I think we/me should all strive to grown into better more well defined human beings, but as far as being a different person from who we are…not so much!

4. The Pantone color of the year for 2013 is emerald green. Like or dislike? Do you already own something this color?  Will you add something in this shade to your home or wardrobe in 2013?

I don’t think I have anything in that color, the bottom line is that I am just not that into all the fashion stuff. I don’t pay attention to trends, to styles, to fashion designers. Give me a good pair of jeans and a white tee shirt and I am as happy as a clam…beyond that I just don't spend my time pondering new colors or styles.

5.  Speaking of emerald...what's your favorite gemstone?

Well my birthstone is the Topaz, however if I am honest I’m a diamond girl. This being said it’s almost an oxymoron to even say I am a diamond girl. I cant remember the last time I wore ear rings or even a necklace. I do have a few pieces of bling but for the most part they are simple pendants or stud earrings. Here is the problem. I’ve told my husband many times I am just not a fan of fancy shmancy frilly rings or jewelry.

I would wear thins…………………………….but not this

I am just not a foo foo girl y’all!

6. Share a favorite book or movie from 2012.

I can’t remember the last time I actually went to the movies. I’m a Netflix girl.

I think one of my favorites this past year was “This Means War” I love a good romantic comedy. This one did not disappoint.

I have not seen Les Mis yet, and I have not seen Lincoln yet either. Breaking Dawn will be on the agenda as soon as it hit Netflix too. Both the Hubs and I are big James Bond fans so Skyfall is also on the the list as well.

The Next DVD to be enjoyed is the remake of Total Recall..it’s sitting by the television as I type!

The Hubs and I got a few Movie gift cards for Christmas so I feel certain that there will be a movie date in he very near future….

7.  What is something you want to tell yourself at the start of this brand new year?

“Lean into the Lord because almost everyone one else is NUTS!” except for all of y’all that is!

People are just crazy y’all. I am so tired of all the craziness in the world. Nothing makes sense anymore, the evil, the immorality, the violence the political arena, don't get me started in that regard. I want simple, I want safe, I want folks to wake up and turn to the Lord and realize what is really important…just saying!

8.  Well this is the first years in a very long time that I have not gotten all my Christmas decoration down by New Years Day. Amazing what a being sick can do to ya. It’s Wednesday and I still don’t feel 100%, I am muuuuuuch better, my apatite is slowly coming back. Starting the year being sick is no fun! The Christmas decorations ill just have to wait until next weekend.

Well the Girlchild is awake and we have multiple things to get done to prep for a small youth gathering at my house this evening. A last hooray before returning to school celebration consisting of a scary move, frozen pizzas and chocolate chip cookies so got to dash to the store and get the house in order.

Y’all head over to Joyce’s and link up for more WH!

Blessings

Love your pics in the header - fun!

I chose diamonds, as well, and I am not a foo foo girl in anyway. However, the ring you liked would look good with a white t-shirt and jeans any day!

Sorry to hear you have been sick. Hopefully, your back to eating Chinese soon. :)

Happy New Year!

Glad to hear you are feeling a little better. I like your first ring as well. I'm not a froo - froo girl either.

I think hubs has succeeded in giving me his cold : ( Lincoln was a great film! I almost said pearls, but went with sapphires instead. I love pearls in all colors.

Happy New Year!
