Random Dozen and “I Won…You Win” continues…

Image
Before you get to my Random Dozen I want to let everyone know that Heidi over at 2 Thinks To Share , y’all remember she was the last winner of I Won…You Win , well she has got her giveaway up and running. If you want to toss your name into the wooden shoe to be eligible for the next round of I Won…You Win then head on over to her blog and check it out! Good Luck y'all!! Now on to Random Dozen.   1. How do you feel about the marshmallow Easter Peeps? They are cute to look at but if I am going to enjoy a sweet treat then I want a good handful of jelly beans or some chocolate. 2. Chickens are notoriously nervous creatures. When you are nervous, what is the best way to calm down? Sometimes I bake, I once went on a muffin/cookie baking marathon during a particularly stressful parental situation. I went through several five pound bags of flour and gave my cookie sheets and muffin tins a good work out. I have also been know to console myself with a good piece of chocolat

Project 365 – Week 13

Sunday, March 21 As Saturday was so jam packed with birthday and out of town family activity I took full advantage of my Sunday Sabbath and rested all day. So no pictures for me. However I will say that the marking of the first day of spring was a bit on the cold and dreary side so there was not much worth photographing in the cold drizzle that fell! Monday, March 22 I am not sure what it is, but if memory serves we had the same issue last spring. Apparently there is a small burrowing animal, my guess is it is a small mole or chipmunk that has returned to my back yard. It has again sent our sweet little puppy over the edge. He is now on a mission to dig up every square inch of my garden in search of whatever is stirring just beyond his reach. Grandma says “Love the baby!” and she leans over very gently and gives the baby a sweet little kiss… Tuesday, March 23 What’s the diff I ask? I watch all the food network chef’s talk about the San Marzano tomatoes, well we shall s

Flashback Friday Continued…OK I had to go find some pictures

In all the reminiscing yesterday got me to thinking of all Easter egg hunts my children participated in. One picture kept comming to mind. Why is it that it was in the last photograph album I pulled off the shelf. Another reason to label the spines with specific dates I'd say. Anywhoo here it is. Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt 1996! She is about to turn one year old! My son (about 8 years old) never wasted any time getting his basket full to the brim!    Blessings and Happy Easter y’all! Robin

Flashback Friday

I am going to skip to the end and go straight for the last two questions. You might also share how your Easter today is similar or different to your childhood? If you are a regular visitor here you are familiar with what I am about to share. Coming from a home broken by divorce I do not have a lot of warm fuzziest about my childhood years. So for me looking back is sometimes not a happy thing for me. With that being said what I can claim with a joyous shout is that things for me now are triumphantly different. I can look back at my children's past with many warm fuzzes and many happy memories. How many pastel colored eggs did I fill with little slips of paper with Easter scriptures tucked inside along with a piece of candy? Too many to count! How many Easter egg hunts out at the campground did I take my children too? Lots and lots! How many Easter morning did my little ones race down stares before church to scour the  house in search of the eggs that the Easter bunny ha

Then and Now…and you asked so here it is “My Alarm Clock!”

I love digital y’all. It just frees me up to take as many pictures as I want. Don’t you wish you had all your older pictures in digital format? I know I do. That is a project for another day. How long would it take to scan all the hard copies of all the pictures I have in albums????  But I digress. I have been enjoying the blossoming of my Christmas Cactus even though it waited until March to start producing blooms. Here is my Christmas Cactus on January 9, 2009. Flash forward to this past Thursday, March 18, 2010. It is about twice the size as it was last year. I am wondering if it has decided that it is now an Easter Cactus since it waited until March to bloom? I’m wondering will it ever even back out and start  blooming at Christmas???? Any Cactus expert out there??? EDIT: after reading all the inquires in my comments about my alarm clock I snapped a few pictures of it this morning. It’s La Crosse, the little side piece pivots and you can either direct it at the

Random Dozen

Random Dozen is being hosted by Southlakesmom while Linda practices the ministry of presence to a friend in the hospital. So here is my contribution to this weeks Randomness! 1.  What is your favorite sign of Spring? This! When the tiny green shoots start poking their heads out of the ground I get just giddy with excitement!   2.  Did you remember to spring forward on March 14?  If not, how did it impact your day? I did not remember to do it, but I have an automatic clock that updates all by it’s self. So Sunday morning when I woke up and remembered that we had forgot to set the clocks ahead I was thankful for my little bedside alarm clock. It even gives me the temperature outside and projects it on the wall so I can see it in the wee hours of the morning.   3.  If soil, time, talent and climate were no problem, what vegetable would you plant in a garden this year? In fact I am heading over to some kind of outdoor store this coming weekend to get the necessary soil

Found Them…

One of the things I have noticed about myself and the grieving process is that like most I look for distraction. After returning from the funeral the other day I set about the house doing those things that you put off because you don’t want to do them. The closet in the sitting room off my bedroom got clean out, several church notebooks got cleaned out/consolidated and are sitting aside to take to church to put in the Stephen Ministry storage area and out of my house. In my pursuit to find distraction guess what I found? (Check out my answer to question number 1 from my last Random Dozen .) My wedding shoes. I also learned a very valuable lesson. Never tape up a box without first labeling the outside very clearly. The thought that goes through your head when you are young is  “I’ll remember what’s in this box!” Well I pulled three different boxes down, all securely taped up and had to open each and every one because I had absolutely no clue what was inside. Project 365 – Week 12

I was sitting at the dinner table this past Friday and I commented to my husband that this past week actually felt like at least two weeks. I was tired and still had much to do. Greif clouds your judgment and skews the perception of the passage of time. I did however manage to take my pictures this week. I have recognized that one of the things that helps me at least, is to have something else to focus on from time to time to take my mind off of how sad I am. So taking pictures was a wonderful distraction. Sunday, March 14, 2010 Very early Sunday morning the first blossoms began to open on my new cherry tree. Monday,March 15, 2010 I had some shopping (more opportunities for distraction) to do for a friends birthday and I just happen up on this great coffee mug on CLEARANCE! We were actually reading Galatians 5 and talking about the Fruit of the Spirit in bible study this week so I figured it was a sign from the Holy Spirit…so I bought the cup. Tuesday, March 16, 2010
