Random Dozen

1. What insect are you most afraid of? Feel free to post a picture.

I am not sure I would call it being afraid of, I would more accurately define it as being startled by…and that would be a Grand Daddy Long Leg Spider. They have this invisible way of sneaking up on you and then all of a sudden you find them crawling up your arm or across your face. I am startled only for an instant then my revulsion turns into vengeance as they are flung from my body and then stomped flat never to startle again!

2. What is the greenest/most organic thing about you or that you do?

I have to say, I am a recycling fiend.

If I see it in the trash and it can be recycled then it is going to get removed from the trash and placed  in the recycling bin. I save my batterers, I have switched to rechargeable batteries when appropriate. I still buy non rechargeable batteries but I find the the rechargeable are good for a few things. I repurpose things, like butter tubs. They make great toddler toys. The Granddaughter loves stacking them up and then knocking them over again. They are light weight and just the right size for tiny fingers. With my membership to Sam’s we have now switched to buying in bulk things like laundry detergent and household cleaners. I refill and reuse plastic bottles. I try to consolidate my trips in the car. If I need to go out I usually try to get all my running around done in one trip. I try to remember to take my reusable shopping bags into the store when I go shopping, but if I forget, which happen more times than not I do recycle my plastic shopping bags. I don't think I am obsessive about it but I do make an effort to be as green as possible.

GE 1:28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

GE 1:29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30  And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground--everything that has the breath of life in it--I give every green plant for food." And it was so.

We had just discussed this last week in fact in Disciple. How God has given us the responsibility of caring for His creation. It is up to each of us to be good stewards of the things He created. When we do not take care of His creation well we are disappointing God and ultimately hurting ourselves. Our planet was designed to sustain us in all things. We we abuse it we are hurting ourselves and ultimately we are hurting God!

3. Tell me about a recurring dream that haunts you.

Typically I do not remember my dreams. I can also share that if I do remember my dreams they are never about the same thing.

4. Have you ever missed a flight? What were the circumstances?

NOPE! From the perspective of the chronically early and perpetually anxious about traveling, the concept of missing a flight would give me reoccurring nightmares, if I had reoccurring nightmares that is!

Lord please don't let me start having reoccurring dreams about…

5. What do you consider your best feature?

Before it turned gray it would have been my hair.

Before they began to wrinkle and get age spots it would have been my hands.

Before it began to go it would have been my mind!

So maybe my best feature is before…..

6. What was the last concert you went to?

Probably the DD Orchestra concert! One day I’m going to miss these…well maybe not!

7. Describe the most embarrassing church moment you ever experienced.

How to pick…This happen years ago, my son was a toddler. So we are going way back.

We were at the church pic nic. I looked over at him and he was walking around with a dead squirrel clutched in his hot little hands. It looked like it had been flattened by the wheel of a tractor and was as stiff as a board and flat as a pancake. He had it by the tail and was walking over to the pastor who happened to be his best bud at the time with a love offering.

8. Are you a whistler, hummer or singer?

A Hummer!!!!!!! It serves a double purpose as it drives the DD CRAZY!

9. George Washington Carver said, "I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in." What is God saying to you through nature today, or this very minute?

Transition, as things in my garden begin to dry up and wither it is a very clear sign of the change in seasons. One can not always be in a growth period in life. There must always been down time, times of renewal, times of withering, times of pruning, times of winter. God planed all things and the change of season is such a wonderful reminder of how He has all things under control.

Transitions are not always pleasant, just ask anyone of us during the midst of a hot flash. However one day when I am on the other side God will have an answer for all things. It is up to me to endure the transition while I am fanning myself in church or restraining the urge to run someone over in my car!

10. On September, 1, 1752, the Liberty Bell arrived in Philadelphia. What memorable event will take place in your life on September 1, 2010?

Now that I am in an In-Depth Bible study, and also in the role of facilitator, I find that Wednesdays are wonderful days. Wednesdays offer up new insight into God’s Word, it places me on a path to get to know a whole new groups of Sisters in Christ. I always look forward to something new being learned or experience together as we explore the wonderful richness of God’s Word.

Lunch with skoots1mom after is always good too!

Wednesday Night Suppers, any day I don’t have to cook is a good day in my book, and I may get to see my Muffin Head!

To much wonderful-ness on a Wednesday, I think not!

11. Taco Bell or the Liberty Bell? (You must choose.)

Liberty Bell!

12. Do you believe men and women can have purely platonic friendships?

Sure! However steps must be taken to avoid any situations that would place that friendship in jeopardy. We are all humans and all experience difficult or inappropriate thoughts. I am not saying it is impossible I am saying that certain things, boundaries, guidelines, must be adhered to.

EPH 5:3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people.

Well that’s it for me for this weeks Random Dozen.

Y’all head over to Linda’s at 2nd Cup of Coffee and link up for more Random Dozen.

Blessings

I woke up from a nap on the couch once with a daddy long legs on my chest and several more in the window. I don't think I ever got up so fast.

I would have so freaked out to see my little one with a dead animal.

Love your answer to #9.
