Random Dozen

Joining Linda at 2nd Cup of Coffee for this weeks Random Dozen

1. Have you ever fired a gun or shot a bow and arrow?

I have never fired a gun but I have a faint memory of using a bow an arrow once back in the day at a summer camp experience.

2. Do you know where your childhood best friends are?

No, very sad but true!

3. Do you usually arrive early, late, or on time?

Early or on time. I absolutely hate it when I am late! And while I’m on a roll it really bugs me when someone else is late, chronic lateness really send me over the edge.

4. Are you more of a New York or California type?

If I have to pick, it would be California. However perfection would be a sweet little cabin surrounded by a beautiful garden with a view of the ocean and a short walk to the beach. I would be a happy girl!

5. Do you have a special ring tone?

Not anymore. I have not figured out how to change the ringtone on my new phone. I had it all figured out on my old phone but the new Windows phone is a bit more complicated, plus I am too cheap to get the data plan so I refuse to pay for cool ringtones.

6. What is your favorite type of chip?

Tostitos with a Hint of Lime.

7. Best comedy you've ever seen is ....

Wow I’m not sure I can pick just one. Get Smart, The Pink Panther, Operation Petticoat, Groundhog Day, Mrs. Doubtfire, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels…but I’m such a movie hound and I just love all kinds of movies. Romantic Comedies are one of my favorites though. I totally loved The Proposal, Maid of Honor, My Big Fat Greek Wedding,Something’s Gotta Give, How to Loose a Guy in Ten Days, Overboard, Working Girl, Splash, and my all time favorite Moonstruck!!!!!

8. Have you ever cut your own hair? To quote Dr. Phil, "How'd that work for ya?"

I used to trim my own bangs when I had them. It took me forever to grow them out and now I no longer have to put up with the trauma of trying to trim them up myself. I was also to cheap/lazy to make a special trip into a salon to get a 1/4 inch trimmed from my bangs.

9. If you were going to have an extreme makeover, would you rather it be about your house or your personal self?

HOUSE! No question. My bedroom, the DD room, the bonus room, the dinning room are all in need of a facelift.

10. Are you allergic to anything?

I once had a very nasty reaction to a sulfur based anti-biotic. It was actually worse than the infection I was trying to clear up.

11. Why is it so hard to change?

If everyone would just do things my way there would be no need for change! Duh!

I think we are all instilled with the need to control our environment or try to control the circumstances around us. We also are very much creatures of habit. We don't like it when things change. That’s why family traditions and comfort food are important because they do not change. However refusing to change is also not a good thing. When I am faced with behaviors that need to be changed open mouth insert food and I refuse to make the changes then I am very much steeped in unhealthy or even sinful behavior.

12. One last question dedicated to February love: CS Lewis said, "To love is to be vulnerable." Please share one example of that assertion or share any thought you'd like to about this topic.

Love is mentioned 505 times throughout scripture. It is our biggest struggle to love as Jesus loved and our our greatest joy is to receive love. When someone we love hurts us there is no deeper pain. Love never fails (1CO 13:8). I like that because I fail all the time!

1JN 4:7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

2JN 1:4 It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us. 5 And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. 6 And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.

Well that’s it for me this week!

1CO 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Somehow given the last question I think this scripture will be flying around the blogosphere today.

God is so good y’all!

Blessings Y’all

Robin

I loved your answers too. It definitely seems most of us doing the random like to be early or on time. I wonder if that means something : )

Have a great day!

I enjoyed your answers. You're so right about the fact that life would be SO much easier if everyone just did things my way :)

On #8, my stylist says I can stop by for bangs trims anytime free...of course, she just told me that last haircut and I've known her for 5 years!

I'm so with you and Dana on people doing things my way! Gotta work on that!

Great answers! I too would love it if everything and everyone went the way I wanted! But then that might get pretty boring too! Enjoyed my visit!

Enjoyed your answers! I also am to cheap to have the plan for the extra ringtones. Mine is bare minimum, I don't even do texting.
I like the sound of the cabin with the view...hmm I could enjoy that!

until next time... nel

Tortillas with a hint of lime -- yet another item to put on my list of "must try" things for furlough :-) For that past 2 weeks our stores haven't had ANY tortilla chips. When we can get them, you get plain or Doritos. That's it.

Loving as Jesus loved is, hands down, the hardest thing for a human being to do. It just doesn't come naturally.

I recently read that whenever we do lay down our selfish desires and serve another, it is super-natural- the work of the Holy Spirit in the heart of the believer. I believe this. That is how unnatural it really is for me to do this. Wish it were easier.
