Random Dozen

Joining Linda over at 2nd Cup of Coffee for this weeks edition of Random Dozen!

1. If you could compete in one Olympic event (not necessarily winter sports) what would it be?

Gymnastics or Archery. I had aspirations in high school for perusing gymnastic but sadly I did not have the tiny little body nor the aptitude, coordination or dedication necessary. Plus I dislocated my left shoulder during a P.E. class and that put a huge damper on things for me.

2. Do remember a specific Olympic moment from the past?

No,not really. Not being the sport enthusiast I do not pay attention to the Olympics, but as I am thinking about it I do remember watching last years opening ceremonies in China and being blown away by the visual impact. I was amazing!

3. Have you ever known anyone who competed in the Olympics?

Nope!

4. If everyday activities were Olympic-worthy, which activity would you have a gold medal in?

Latte making! I ROCK at extra foam!

5. Do you know anything about your ethnic heritage?

NO!

6. Do you enjoy sleeping late?

I would love to sleep in, however having suffered from headaches and migraines my whole life one of the things they recommend is going to bed at the same time and getting up at the same time. I am not sure why but oddly enough if I over sleep nine times out of ten I will wake up with a headache…no fun.

7. Have you ever performed CPR on anyone? Do you know how? (Yes, that's two, I know. Whatevs.)

Thankfully I have never had to perform CPR, but I did take a Red Cross class once. I will say that the official methods of CPR seem to change so often that I don't think I can keep up!

8. Name one country you'd like to visit and explain why.

Gee since we don’t have all day I will try to narrow it down a bit. I would love to go the Greece. Every time I see pictures of the Greek islands I am captivated by them. But then there are so many places that I have never been and would love to go to. England, France, Australia, New Zealand,  not to mention all the cool places here in the United States that I have never been to either, the Grand Canyon, New England, Washington D.C. We hope to make the trip out to the Grand Canyon this summer and I am very excited about it!

9. Have you ever fixed up a couple romantically?

No! Wow! That’s three no’s for me this week.

10. What is the last book you read?

The last book I finished was “The Horse and His Boy” by C.S. Lewis. I am a multiple book reader so I have a couple book that I am currently reading right now. “Praying the Names of God” by Ann Spangler is wonderful, my small group is slowly making our way through it! I am currently reading “A Breath of Snow and Ashes”  by Dianna Gabaldon again. I am eagerly awaiting beginning the next installment “Echo in the Bone” which I got for my birthday but I picked it up and since it took her over three years to get the book to print I need to refresh my memory by re-reading the last book before I can start the new one. But I am all about delayed gratification so I am enjoying revisiting the last book again and hugely looking forward to getting into the new book.

11. Do you enjoy sleeping late? see answer to #6

12. What is your favorite meal at your favorite restaurant?

We have a small home cooking restaurant around the corner called ‘The Harvest Table” and they have wonderful meatloaf and great southern style veggies. Stewed tomatoes, greens, sweet potato casserole, green beans, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes & gravy…but any meal that I don’t have to cook is my favorite meal. Hands down one of the best meals I have ever had was the dinner we had at The Lady & Son’s restaurant in Savannah but since we cant drive to Savannah every week I will take the next best thing at the Harvest Table around the corner from my house.

Well that’s it for me this week!

Blessings and Happy Random Dozen y’all!

Robin

Extra foam, please!

and #8 - if you make it to the Grand Canyon, try to allow time to go to the North Rim (there's no bridge so you have to go up and around through Las Vegas). It is very unspoiled, and completely gorgeous. On the way up you drive through some of the most beautiful country you'll ever see -- ancient lava flows, gorgeous sandstone.

We used to live out there...

I love Lady and Sons-their fried green tomatoes were the best!

I wish I were close enough to pop over for a latte...that would be just the thing this morning!

If I didn't make a joke of # 1, I would have said archery. I have good aim and would love to improve the biceps.

Wasn't that opening ceremony amazing. The boxes...wow. It was a little scary too. They are a force!

Ha! Latte foam. Love it.

Would love to go to Santorini; it looks so beautiful. DC is a great visit; lots of fun things to do here. If you're ever this way, let me know and I'll give you some insider tips.

Wrote down the name of Ann Spangler's book. That sounds wonderful; will check it out.

Pea-green with envy over the Lady and Sons. We drove through Savannah in Dec 08 and there was a line around the block at 9am. Someday...

Ohhh a latte sounds sooo good right about now...

I'm with you on the whole travel thing! There are sO many places I want to go -- and I'm hoping to TAKE a cross country trip this spring or summer - the Grand Canyon is definitely on my list - as is Mount Rushmore!

Well the next time you do decide to drive to Savannah. I'm only 45 minutes from there. I grew up in the Savannah area, and moved further out in the country two years ago.

Enjoyed your answers as always. The Grand Canyon is breath taking. We got to see a storm come down the canyon, it was awesome. We were in DC last year, my first time. I felt like a fish in a bowl. It is such a busy town, but oh it is rich with history. A friend of mine lives there and was working at the National Archives. She gave me a personal tour while my hubby was in a meeting. Talk about fun, it was amazing.
until next time... nel

Well, now, you can't get away with not telling us what you ate at Lady & Sons!

I have that praying the Names of God. I'll have to get it farther up on the reading pile!
